/ Kumar, V (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Chapman, R (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Ollier, J (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Orlandi, R (JAERI, Tokai) ; Smith, J F (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Spohr, K -M (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Torres, D A (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Wady, P (West Scotland U. ; SUPA, UK) ; Tandel, S K (Shiv Nadar U.) ; Shukla, A (Lucknow U.) et al.
Excited states of the molybdenum isotopes Mo4297,99,101 have been populated in two experiments which used fusion-fission and binary grazing reactions to populate yrast states of the nuclei of interest. In the first experiment, the GASP array of escape-suppressed Ge detectors was used to detect γ rays from fusion-fission products initiated by the interaction of a 230-MeV beam of S36 ions with a thick target of Yb176. Excited states in the Kr70 and Br70 nuclei were populated via the Ca40(S32,2n)Kr70 and Ca40(S32,pn)Br70 fusion-evaporation reactions at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä. The 2+⟶0+ and 4+⟶2+ transitions in Kr70 have been found to be 881(1) keV and (tentatively) 1037(2) keV, respectively. [...]

/ Kumar, V (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Chapman, R (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; O'Donnell, D (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Ollier, J (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Orlandi, R (JAEA, Ibaraki) ; Smith, J F (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Spohr, K -M (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Torres, D A (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Wady, P (West Scotland U. ; Strathclyde U.) ; Tandel, S K (Shiv Nadar U.) et al.
Excited states of the neutron-rich niobium isotopes Nb96,97,98,4196,97,98,99 have been populated in two experiments which used fusion-fission and multinucleon binary grazing reactions to populate high-spin yrast states. In the multinucleon-transfer experiment, a 530-MeV beam of Zr96 ions was incident on a thin Sn124 target; projectile-like ejectiles were detected and identified using the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer and the associated γ rays were detected using the CLARA array of Ge detectors. Coulomb excitation of pear-shaped nuclei
/ Butler, Peter (Liverpool U.) ; Gaffney, Liam (Liverpool U. ; CERN) ; Spagnoletti, Pietro (West Scotland U.) ; Konki, Joonas (CERN) ; Scheck, Marcus (West Scotland U.) ; Smith, John (West Scotland U.) ; Abrahams, Kenzo (Western Cape U.) ; Bowry, Michael (TRIUMF) ; Cederkäll, Joakim (Lund U.) ; Chupp, Timothy (Michigan U.) et al.
There is a large body of evidence that atomic nuclei can undergo octupole distortion and assume the shape of a pear. This phenomenon is important for measurements of electric-dipole moments of atoms, which would indicate CP violation and hence probe physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. [...]

Excited states in the neutron-deficient nucleus $^{87}$Tc have been studied via the fusion-evaporation reaction $^{54}$Fe($^{36}$Ar, 2$n$1p) $^{87}$Tc at 115 MeV beam energy. The AGATA γ -ray spectrometer coupled to the DIAMANT, NEDA, and Neutron Wall detector arrays for light-particle detection was used to measure the prompt coincidence of $\gamma$ rays and light particles. Chem.) ; Butler, P A (Liverpool U.) ; Gaffney, L P (Liverpool U. ; CERN) ; Abrahams, K (Western Cape U.) ; Bowry, M (West Scotland U. ; TRIUMF) ; Cederkäll, J (Lund U.) ; Chupp, T (U. The nature of quadrupole and octupole collectivity in $^{222}$Rn was investigated by determining the electric-quadrupole (E2) and octupole (E3) matrix elements using subbarrier, multistep Coulomb excitation. The radioactive $^{222}$Rn beam, accelerated to 4.23 MeV/u, was provided by the HIE-ISOLDE facility at CERN. [...]
