The PSI Positron Production (P3 or P-cubed) experiment is a e+ source and capture system with the potential to increase by an order of magnitude the state-of-the-art e+ yield normalized to the drive linac energy, a highly desirable goal for future colliders. The experiment is framed in the FCC-ee injector study and will be hosted at SwissFEL, located at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. [...]

The Future Circular Collider (FCC) ‘integrated programme’ consists of an initial electron-positron collider FCC-ee, which is later followed by a proton-proton collider, FCC-hh, installed in the same 91 km circumference tunnel close to CERN. Over a span of 15 years, from the mid or late 2040s through the early 2060s, the FCC-ee shall operate at centre-of-mass energies between about 90 and 365 GeV, always delivering the highest possible luminosities to four experiments, in a sustainable and energy-efficient way. In response to the 2020 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the Future Circular Collider (FCC) Feasibility Study was launched as an international collaboration hosted by CERN. The FCC ‘integrated programme’, described in this report, in a first stage consists of a highest-luminosity electron-positron collider, FCC-ee, serving as Higgs, top and electroweak factory, with a subsequent energy-frontier proton-proton collider, FCC-hh, as the second stage.     The FCC-ee is designed to operate at four baseline centre-of-mass energies, corresponding to the Z pole, the WW pair production threshold, the ZH production peak, and the top/anti-top production threshold, always delivering the highest possible luminosities to four experiments. [...]

Previous pair-production-driven positron source designs have assumed that the transverse dimension of the target is significantly greater than the secondary beam it generates. This paper explores the use of targets with different transverse profiles with the aim of enhancing positron production. [...]
