The PSI positron production project / Vallis, Nicolas (PSI, Villigen ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Craievich, Paolo (PSI, Villigen) ; Schaer, Mattia (PSI, Villigen) ; Zennaro, Riccardo (PSI, Villigen) ; Auchmann, Bernhard (PSI, Villigen) ; Besana, Maria Ilaria (PSI, Villigen) ; Duda, Michal (PSI, Villigen) ; Fortunati, Reto (PSI, Villigen) ; Garcia Rodrigues, Henrique (PSI, Villigen) ; Hauenstein, Dominique (PSI, Villigen) et al.
The PSI Positron Production experiment, known as $\text{P}^{3}$ or $\textit{P-cubed}$, is a proof-of-principle positron source and capture system that can greatly improve the state-of-the-art positron yield. The $\text{P}^{3}$ project is led by the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, and addresses the long-standing challenge faced by conventional injector facilities to generate, capture, and damp the emittance of high-current positron beam, which is a major limiting factor for the feasibility of future electron-positron colliders. 3D integration methodologies of the accelerators at CERN / Magazinik, Anastasiya (Unlisted, CH) ; Tursun, Alparslan (Unlisted, CH) ; Kosmicki, Antoine (CERN) ; del Alamo, Daniel (CERN) ; Valchkova-Georgieva, Fani (Unlisted, CH) ; Galleazzi, Frederic (CERN) ; Corso, Jean-Pierre (CERN) ; Coupard, Julie (CERN) ; Joannon, Nicolas (Unlisted, CH) ; Maridor, Stephane (CERN) et al.
The 3D design of large accelerators like the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) requires coordination among equipment, services, and infrastructures. As numerous systems are designed, procured, and installed, 3D integration studies are important steps at any stages of a project, starting from the conceptual phase with space reservations, envelopes and interfaces, followed by the technical design phase managing the detailed and simplified 3D models, and finishing by the installation phase with follow-up of discrepancies. Update of Facility Technical Studies for the FPF / Boyd, Jamie (CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Osborne, John Andrew (CERN) ; Bud, Tamara Alice (CERN) ; Balazs, Kincso (CERN) ; Corso, Jean-Pierre (CERN) ; Magazinik, Anastasiya (Tampere University of Technology (FI)) ; Navascues Cornago, Angel (CERN)
The Forward Physics Facility (FPF) has been proposed to house a set of detectors to study collider neutrinos and search for new particles in the High-Luminosity LHC era. This report provides an update to the space and infrastructure requirements of the Facility, a result of integration studies carried out by CERN technical teams in conjunction with the FPF experimental community. High-Power Test of Two Prototype X-Band Accelerating Structures Based on SwissFEL Fabrication Technology / Millar, William L (CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Wuensch, Walter (CERN) ; Lasheras, Nuria Catalan (CERN) ; McMonagle, Gerard (CERN) ; Zennaro, Riccardo (PSI, Villigen) ; Craievich, Paolo (PSI, Villigen) ; Bopp, Markus (PSI, Villigen) ; Lucas, Thomas G (PSI, Villigen) ; Volpi, Matteo (CERN ; Melbourne U.) et al.
This article presents the design, construction, and high-power test of two X -band radio frequency (RF) accelerating structures built as part of a collaboration between CERN and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) for the compact linear collider (CLIC) study. The structures are a modified “tuning-free” variant of an existing CERN design and were assembled using Swiss free electron laser (SwissFEL) production methods. [...]

Industry Collaboration with Large Research Infrastructures: What factors influence knowledge benefits for companies? / Magazinik, Anastasiya (Tampere U.) ; Lasheras, Nuria Catalan (CERN) ; Mäkinen, Saku (Tampere U.) ; Bedolla, Joel Sauza (Lancaster U. (main))
Firms' collaboration with large research infrastructure through procurement activities during the construction phase of a large-scale scientific experiment, has been previously shown to enhance suppliers' performance. The present work assesses the industry collaboration with CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, for the international study on a future particle accelerator for high energy physics, the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC study).
