Status and challenges of Nb3Sn accelerator magnets at CERN : Lessons learned from ITER to HL-LHC / Devred, A
The High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) project at CERN has offered the opportunity to promote and develop various types of enabling accelerator technologies, such as MgB2 superconducting links for cold powering and Nb3Sn accelerator magnets for the interaction regions where the t [...]

Molecular Understanding of the Enhancement in Organic Aerosol Mass at High Relative Humidity / Surdu, Mihnea ; Lamkaddam, Houssni ; Wang, Dongyu S ; Bell, David M ; Xiao, Mao ; Lee, Chuan Ping ; Li, Dandan ; Caudillo, Lucía ; Marie, Guillaume ; Scholz, Wiebke et al.
The mechanistic pathway by which high relative humidity (RH) affects gas–particle partitioning remains poorly understood, although many studies report increased secondary organic aerosol (SOA) yields at high RH. Here, we use real-time, molecular measurements of both the gas and particle phase to provide a mechanistic understanding of the effect of RH on the partitioning of biogenic oxidized organic molecules (from α-pinene and isoprene) at low temperatures (243 and 263 K) at the CLOUD chamber at CERN. London ; CERN ; Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) ; He, Hong-Jian (Shanghai Jiaotong U. ; Tsinghua U., Beijing ; Peking U.) ; Xiao, Rui-Qing (King's Coll. London ; Shanghai Jiao Tong U.)
We study probes of neutral triple gauge couplings (nTGCs) via Zγ production followed by off-shell decays Zνˉν at the LHC and future pp colliders, including both CP-conserving (CPC) and CP-violating (CPV) couplings. We present the dimension-8 SMEFT operators contributing to nTGCs and derive the correct form factor formulation for the off-shell vertices ZγV (V=Z,γ) by matching them with the dimension-8 SMEFT operators. Status of the muEDM Experiment at PSI / Khaw, Kim Siang (Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) ; Chen, Cheng (Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) ; Giovannozzi, Massimo (CERN) ; Hu, Tianqi (Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) ; Lv, Meng (Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) ; Ng, Jun Kai (Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) ; Papa, Angela (Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) ; Schmidt-Wellenburg, Philipp (PSI, Villigen ; INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Vitali, Bastiano (PSI, Villigen ; INFN, Pisa ; Rome U.) ; Wong, Guan Ming (Shanghai Jiao Tong U.) /PSI muEDM Collaboration
Permanent electric dipole moments (EDMs) are excellent probes of physics beyond the Standard Model, especially on new sources of CP violation. The muon EDM has recently attracted significant attention due to discrepancies in the magnetic anomaly of the muon, as well as potential violations of lepton-flavor universality in B-meson decays. AbstractIodine is a reactive trace element in atmospheric chemistry that destroys ozone and nucleates particles. Iodine emissions have tripled since 1950 and are projected to keep increasing with rising O3 surface concentrations. [...]

Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) influences climate via cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) formation resulting from its oxidation products (mainly methanesulfonic acid, MSA, and sulfuric acid, H2SO4). Despite their importance, accurate prediction of MSA and H2SO4 from DMS oxidation remains challenging. [...]

Survival of newly formed particles in haze conditions / Marten, Ruby (PSI, Villigen) ; Xiao, Mao (PSI, Villigen) ; Rorup, Birte (Helsinki U.) ; Wang, Mingyi (Carnegie Mellon U.) ; Kong, Weimeng (Caltech) ; He, Xu-Cheng (Helsinki U.) ; Stolzenburg, Dominik (Helsinki U.) ; Pfeifer, Joschka (CERN ; Frankfurt U., FIAS ; Frankfurt U.) ; Marie, Guillaume (Frankfurt U., FIAS ; Frankfurt U.) ; Wang, Dongyu S (PSI, Villigen) et al.
Intense new particle formation events are regularly observed under highly polluted conditions, despite the high loss rates of nucleated clusters. Higher than expected cluster survival probability implies either ineffective scavenging by pre-existing particles or missing growth mechanisms. [...]

Molecular characterization of ultrafine particles using extractive electrospray time-of-flight mass spectrometry / Surdu, Mihnea (PSI, Villigen) ; Pospisilova, Veronika (PSI, Villigen) ; Xiao, Mao (PSI, Villigen) ; Wang, Mingyi (Carnegie Mellon U.) ; Mentler, Bernhard (Innsbruck U.) ; Simon, Mario (Frankfurt U., FIAS ; Frankfurt U.) ; Stolzenburg, Dominik (Vienna U., Dept. Math. ; Helsinki U.) ; Hoyle, Christopher R (PSI, Villigen ; Zurich, ETH) ; Bell, David M (PSI, Villigen) ; Lee, Chuan Ping (PSI, Villigen) et al.
Aerosol particles negatively affect human health while also having climatic relevance due to, for example, their ability to act as cloud condensation nuclei. Ultrafine particles (diameter Dp < 100 nm) typically comprise the largest fraction of the total number concentration, however, their chemical characterization is difficult because of their low mass. Probing Neutral Triple Gauge Couplings at the LHC and Future Hadron Colliders / Ellis, John (King's Coll. We study probes of neutral triple gauge couplings (nTGCs) at the LHC and the proposed 100TeV pp colliders, and compare their sensitivity reaches with those of the proposed e+e colliders. The nTGCs provide a unique window to the new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) because they can arise from SM effective field theory (SMEFT) operators that respect the full electroweak gauge group SU(2)LU(1)Y of the SM only at the level of dimension-8 or higher.
