Test Results of the CLIC Damping Wiggler Prototype
/ Bragin, Alexey V (Novosibirsk, IYF) ; Bernhard, Axel (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Casalbuoni, Sara (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Fajardo, Laura G (CERN) ; Ferracin, Paolo (CERN) ; Grau, Andreas (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Gusev, Yevgeny A (Novosibirsk, IYF) ; Hillenbrand, Steffen (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Khrushchev, Sergey V (Novosibirsk, IYF) ; Poletaev, Iliya V (Novosibirsk, IYF) et al.
The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) will require ultralow emittance electron and positron beams. Such emittance will be achieved by radiative damping in the CLIC damping rings that will be realized by a use of high-field short-period superconducting damping wigglers. [...]

Path to AWAKE: Evolution of the concept
/ Caldwell, A. (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Adli, E. (Oslo U.) ; Amorim, L. (Lisbon, CFTP) ; Apsimon, R. (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Lancaster U.) ; Argyropoulos, T. (CERN) ; Assmann, R. (DESY) ; Bachmann, A.-M. (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Batsch, F. (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Bauche, J. (CERN) ; Berglyd Olsen, V.K. (Oslo U.) et al.
This report describes the conceptual steps in reaching the design of the AWAKE experiment currently under construction at CERN. We start with an introduction to plasma wakefield acceleration and the motivation for using proton drivers. [...]

Study of Laser Wakefield Accelerators as Injectors for Synchrotron Light Sources
/ Hillenbrand, Steffen (Karlsruhe, Inst. Technol.) ; Judin, Vitali ; Müller, Anke-Susanne (Karlsruhe, Inst. Technol.) ; Aßmann, Ralph (CERN) ; Hillenbrand, Steffen (CERN) ; Jansen, Oliver (Heinrich Heine U., Dusseldorf) ; Pukhov, Alexander (Heinrich Heine U., Dusseldorf)
Short bunch lengths, high beam energies, and small facility footprint make Laser Wakefield Accelerators (LWFA) very interesting as injectors for Synchrotron Light Sources. In this paper, we describe exemplary investigations for the ANKA storage ring..

Considerations for a Higgs Facility Based on Laser Wakefield Acceleration
/ Hillenbrand, Steffen (Karlsruhe, Inst. Technol. ; CERN) ; Müller, Anke-Susanne (Karlsruhe, Inst. Technol.) ; Aßmann, Ralph (CERN) ; Hillenbrand, Steffen (CERN) ; Schulte, Daniel (CERN)
Laser Wakefield Accelerators have seen tremendous progress over the last decades. It is hoped that they will allow to significantly reduce the size and cost of a future liner collider. Based on scaling laws, laser-driven plasma accelerators are investigated as drivers for smaller scale facilities capable of producing Z and Higgs bosons..

A Multi-Parameter Optimization of Plasma Density for an Advanced Linear Collider*
/ Muggli, P (Southern California U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Assmann, R (CERN) ; Hillenbrand, S (CERN ; KIT, Karlsruhe)
Recent plasma wakefield accelerator (PWFA) experiments showed that an accelerating gradient as high as 50 GV/m can be driven and sustained over a meter-long plasma [1]. Based on this result, a straw man design for a future, multi-stage, PWFA-based electron/positron collider with an energy gain of ~ 25 GeV/stage has been generated [2]. [...]
