A Sensor Employing an Array of Silicon Photomultipliers for Detection of keV Ions in Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry / Mariscal-Castilla, Antonio (Barcelona U.) ; Piller, Markus (CERN) ; Alozy, Jerome (CERN) ; Ballabriga, Rafael (CERN) ; Campbell, Michael (CERN) ; de la Torre, Oscar (Barcelona U.) ; Gascón, David (Barcelona U.) ; Gómez, Sergio (Barcelona, Polytechnic U.) ; Heathcote, David (Oxford U.) ; Mauricio, Joan (Barcelona U.) et al.
Pixellated scintillation detectors have the potential to overcome several limitations of conventional microchannel-plate-based detectors employed in time-of-flight mass spectrometry (ToF-MS), such as extending detector lifetime, reducing vacuum requirements, or increasing the ion throughput. We have developed a prototype comprising a fast organic scintillator (Exalite 404) coupled to an array of 16 silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), with read-out electronics based on the FastIC application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). Performance of a spaghetti calorimeter prototype with tungsten absorber and garnet crystal fibres / An, Liupan (CERN) ; Auffray, Etiennette (CERN) ; Betti, Federico (CERN) ; Dall'Omo, Frederik (CERN) ; Gascon, David (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Golutvin, Andrey (Imperial Coll., London) ; Guz, Yury (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Kholodenko, Sergey (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Martinazzoli, Loris (CERN ; Milan Bicocca U.) ; De Cos, José Mazorra (Valencia U., IFIC) et al.
A spaghetti calorimeter (SPACAL) prototype with scintillating crystal fibres was assembled and tested with electron beams of energy from 1 to 5 GeV. The prototype comprised radiation-hard Cerium-doped Gd$_3$Al$_2$Ga$_3$O$_{12}$ (GAGG:Ce) and Y$_3$Al$_5$O$_{12}$ (YAG:Ce) embedded in a pure tungsten absorber. [...]

The Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) sensor is replacing the extensive use of the Photomultiplier Tube (PMT) in fast timing applications. These photo-sensors can be applied in different fields such as medical imaging systems like Positron Emission Tomography (PET), LIDAR technologies or High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments. [...]

Amplitude analysis of the $B^+ \to D^+ D^- K^+$ decay / LHCb Collaboration
Results are reported from an amplitude analysis of the $B^+\to D^+D^-K^+$ decay. The analysis is carried out using LHCb proton-proton collision data taken at $\sqrt{s}=7,8,$ and $13$ TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb$^{-1}$. [...]

Observation of the $\varLambda^{0}_{b}\to\varLambda^{+}_{c}K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{-}$ decay / LHCb Collaboration
The $\varLambda^{0}_{b}\to\varLambda^{+}_{c}K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{-}$ decay is observed for the first time using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7$ and 8 $\rm{TeV}$ collected by the $\mbox{LHCb}$ detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3{\rm{fb}^{-1}}$. The ratio of branching fractions between the $\varLambda^{0}_{b}\to\varLambda^{+}_{c}K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{-}$ and the $\varLambda^{0}_{b}\to\varLambda^{+}_{c}D^{-}_{s}$ decays is measured to be \begin{equation*} \frac{\mathcal{B} ( \varLambda^{0}_{b}\to\varLambda^{+}_{c}K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{-}) } {\mathcal{B} ( \varLambda^{0}_{b}\to\varLambda^{+}_{c} D^{-}_{s})} = (9.26 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.46 \pm 0.26)\times10^{-2}, \end{equation*} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third is due to the knowledge of the $D^{-}_{s}\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{-}$ branching fraction. Search for heavy neutral leptons in $W^+ \to \mu^+ \mu^{\pm} jet $ decays / LHCb Collaboration
A search is performed for heavy neutrinos in the decay of a $W$ boson into two muons and a jet. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of approximately $3.0 \text{ fb}^{- 1}$ of proton-proton collision data at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and $8 \text{ TeV}$ collected with the LHCb experiment. The structure is interpreted as the result of overlapping excited $B_s^0$ states. [...]
