Deep learning for certification of the quality of the data acquired by the CMS Experiment / Alan Pol, Adrian (CERN ; U. Paris-Saclay) ; Azzolini, Virginia (CERN) ; Cerminara, Gianluca (CERN) ; De Guio, Federico (CERN ; Texas Tech.) ; Franzoni, Giovanni (CERN) ; Germain, Cecile (U. Paris-Saclay) ; Pierini, Maurizio (CERN) ; Krzyżek, Tomasz (CERN ; Jagiellonian U. (main)) /CMS Collaboration
Certifying the data recorded by the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN is a crucial and demanding task as the data is used for publication of physics results. Anomalies caused by detector malfunctioning or sub-optimal data processing are difficult to enumerate a priori and occur rarely, making it difficult to use classical supervised classification. [...]

Measurement of single-diffractive dijet production in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 8 TeV with the CMS and TOTEM experiments / CMS and TOTEM Collaborations
Measurements are presented of the single-diffractive dijet cross section and the diffractive cross section as a function of the proton fractional momentum loss $\xi$ and the four-momentum transfer squared $t$. Both processes ${\mathrm{p}}{\mathrm{p}} \to {\mathrm{p}}\mathrm{X}$ and ${\mathrm{p}}{\mathrm{p}} \to \mathrm{X}{\mathrm{p}}$, ie with the proton scattering to either side of the interaction point, are measured, where $\mathrm{X}$ includes at least two jets; the results of the two processes are averaged [...]

The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment dedicates significant effort to assess the quality of its data, online and offline. A real-time data quality monitoring system is in place to spot and diagnose problems as promptly as possible to avoid data loss. [...]

The Data Quality Monitoring software for the CMS experiment at the LHC: past, present and future / Azzolini, Virginia (MIT) ; van Besien, Broen (CERN) ; Bugelskis, Dmitrijus (Vilnius U. The Data Quality Monitoring software is a central tool in the CMS experiment. It is used in the following key environments: (i) Online, for real-time detector monitoring; (ii) Offline, for the prompt-offline-feedback and final fine-grained data quality analysis and certification; (iii) Validation of all the reconstruction software production releases; (iv) Validation in Monte Carlo productions. Studies of charm quark diffusion inside jets using PbPb and pp collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} =$ 5.02 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The first study of charm quark diffusion with respect to the jet axis in heavy ion collisions is presented. The measurement is performed using jets with ${p_{\mathrm{T}}^{\text{jet}}} > $ 60 GeV/$c$ and ${\mathrm{D^0}}$ mesons with ${p_{\mathrm{T}}^{\text{D}}} > $ 4 GeV/$c$ in lead-lead (PbPb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of $ {\sqrt {\smash [b]{s_{_{\mathrm {NN}}}}}} = $ 5.02 TeV, recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. Bose-Einstein correlations of charged hadrons in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV / CMS Collaboration
Bose-Einstein correlations of charged hadrons are measured over a broad multiplicity range, from a few particles up to about 250 reconstructed charged hadrons in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV. The results are based on data collected using the CMS detector at the LHC during runs with a special low-pileup configuration. [...]

Strange hadron production in $pp$ and $p$Pb collisions at ${\sqrt {\smash [b]{s_{_{\mathrm {NN}}}}}} = $ 5.02 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The transverse momentum (${p_{\mathrm{T}}}$) distributions of $\Lambda$, $ \Xi^{-}$, and $\Omega^{-}$ baryons, their antiparticles, and ${\mathrm{K^0_S}}$ mesons are measured in proton-proton (pp) and proton-lead (pPb) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV over a broad rapidity range. The data, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 40.2 nb$^{-1}$ and 15.6 $\mu$b$^{-1}$ for pp and pPb collisions, respectively, were collected by the CMS experiment. [...]

Search for light pseudoscalar boson pairs produced from decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson in final states with two muons and two nearby tracks in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = $ 13 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search is presented for pairs of light pseudoscalar bosons, in the mass range from 4 to 15 GeV, produced from decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson. The decay modes considered are final states that arise when one of the pseudoscalars decays to a pair of tau leptons, and the other one either into a pair of tau leptons or muons. [...]
