Challenges of Target and Irradiation Diagnostics of the IFMIF-DONES Facility / Torregrosa, Claudio (Granada U.) ; Arbeiter, Frederik (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Becerril-Jarque, Santiago ; Brenneis, Bjoern (KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Buligins, Leonids (Salaspils, Nucl. Res. Ctr.) ; Castellanos, Jesus (Castilla-La Mancha U.) ; Chauvin, Nicolas (IRFU, Saclay) ; Fiore, Salvatore (CERN) ; Ibarra, Angel ; Jimenez-Rey, David (Madrid, CIEMAT) et al.
IFMIF-DONES will be a first-class scientific infrastructure consisting of an accelerator-driven neutron source delivering 1e17 n/s with a broad peak at 14 MeV. Such neutron flux will be created by impinging a continuous wave 125 mA, 40 MeV, 5 MW deuteron beam onto a liquid Li jet target, circulating at 15 m/s. [...]

Effect of High-Magnetic Field Region Geometry on the Efficiency of a 750 MHz IH Structure / Moreno, Gabriela (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Battaglia, Maria Cristina (Unlisted, ES) ; Calvo, Pedro (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Carmona, José Miguel (Unlisted, ES) ; Gavela, Daniel (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Giner Navarro, Jorge (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Lombardi, Alessandra (CERN) ; López López, Ricardo (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Oliver, Concepcion (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Pérez Morales, Jose (Madrid, CIEMAT)
High frequency structures generally translate to high efficiency performances thanks to reduced surfaces of the inner cavity. Two round-profiles geometry and some variations of two important parameters of a 750 MHz IH-DTL are proposed in this paper in order to improve shunt impedance performance regarding an existing solution with flat-walled cavity developed by CERN. Cell Geometry Optimization for Dipole Kick Correction in a High-Frequency IH Structure / López López, Ricardo (Madrid, CIEMAT ; Carlos III U., Madrid) ; Battaglia, Maria Cristina (Unlisted, ES) ; Calvo, Pedro (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Carmona, José Miguel (Unlisted, ES) ; Gavela, Daniel (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Giner Navarro, Jorge (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Lombardi, Alessandra (CERN) ; Moreno, Gabriela (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Oliver, Concepcion (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Pérez Morales, Jose (Madrid, CIEMAT)
Given the asymmetry in the stem configuration of an IH-DTL structure, an electric dipole component is always present between drift tubes, and it is especially significant for reduced dimensions in high-frequency regimes. Here we study the effect of different modifications of the drift tubes geometry of a 750 MHz IH-DTL to eliminate the impact of the dipole component in the transverse beam dynamics. [...]

Advanced Concepts and Methods for Very High Intensity Linacs / Nghiem, Phu Anh Phi (IRFU, Saclay) ; Chauvin, Nicolas (IRFU, Saclay) ; Comunian, Michele (INFN, Legnaro) ; Oliver, Concepcion (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Simeoni, Wilson (Rio Grande do Sul U.) ; Uriot, Didier (IRFU, Saclay) ; Valette, Matthieu (CERN)
For very high intensity linacs, both beam power and space charge should be taken into consideration for any analysis of accelerators aiming at comparing their performances and pointing out the challenging sections. As high beam power is an issue from the lowest energy, careful and exhaustive beam loss predictions have to be done. [...]

Luminosity Determination in $pp$ Collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV using the ATLAS Detector at the LHC / ATLAS Collaboration
Measurements of luminosity obtained using the ATLAS detector during early running of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV are presented. The luminosity is independently determined using several detectors and multiple algorithms, each having different acceptances, systematic uncertainties and sensitivity to background. [...]

Measurement of the top quark-pair production cross section with ATLAS in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV / ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement of the production cross-section for top quark pairs($t\bar{t}$) in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV is presented using data recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events are selected in two different topologies: single lepton (electron $e$ or muon $\mu$) with large missing transverse energy and at least four jets, and dilepton ($ee$, $\mu\mu$ or $e\mu$) with large missing transverse energy and at least two jets. Measurement of underlying event characteristics using charged particles in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 900 GeV and 7 TeV with the ATLAS Detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Measurements of charged particle distributions, sensitive to the underlying event, have been performed with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measurements are based on data collected using a minimum-bias trigger to select proton{proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 900 GeV and 7 TeV [...]
