Following the successful completion of the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project, since 2021 the Proton Synchrotron (PS) Booster has served the LHC injector chain with protons at an increased kinetic energy of 2 GeV. An upgrade of the ISOLDE (Isotope Separator On-Line DEvice) facility has long been considered to produce radioactive ion beams with a higher energy proton driver beam. [...]

Status of CLIC Magnets Studies and R / Modena, Michele (CERN) ; Aloev, Alexander (CERN) ; Solodko, Evgeny (CERN) ; Thonet, Pierre-Alexandre (CERN) ; Vorozhtsov, Alexey (CERN)
Since 2009 the CERN Magnet Group (CERN-TE-MSC) started R&D; activities in order to focalize the most challenging and interesting cases to be studied among the magnets needed for CLIC the Compact Linear Collider. In the last four years several theoretic studies, models and prototypes were realized mainly in two domains: magnets for the Modules, the modular elements that are composing the backbone of the two-beam linac structure of CLIC, and the Machine Detector Interface (MDI) including the Final Focus elements, and the anti-solenoid. The excellent performance of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the extension of Run 3 by one year have led to a significant increase of the expected integrated luminosity by the end of its operation and before the start of the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), exceeding the design LHC integrated luminosity of 300 fb−1 for which the final focus region has been designed. Alvarez drift tube linac for medical applications in the framework of HITRIplus project / Mamaras, Aristeidis (Aristotle U., Thessaloniki ; CERN) ; Samponidis, D (Aristotle U., Thessaloniki ; CERN) ; Bellan, L (INFN-LNL, Legnaro, Italy) ; Bisoffi, Giovanni (Universita e INFN, Legnaro (IT)) ; Comunian, M (INFN-LNL, Leganro, Italy) ; Thonet, Pierre Alexandre (CERN) ; Vretenar, Maurizio (CERN)
A first beam dynamics and RF design of an Alvarez-type drift tube linac (DTL) has been defined in the framework of the EU project, HITRIplus. It is meant primarily as a carbon (12C4+) and helium (4He2+) ion injector of a compact synchrotron for patient treatment. [...]

Towards the Last Stages of the CERN’s AD-Target Area Consolidation Project and Recommissioning Plans to Resume Operation / Torregrosa, Claudio (CERN) ; Ahdida, Claudia (CERN) ; Bouvard, Aymeric (CERN) ; Broche, Alexandre (CERN) ; Burger, Stephane (CERN) ; Butcher, Mark (CERN) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) ; Clerc, Vincent (CERN) ; De Macedo, Aurelio (CERN) ; De Man, Sven (CERN) et al.
Antiprotons are produced at CERN at the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) Target Area by impacting 26 GeV/c proton beams onto a fixed target. Further collection, momentum selection, and transport of the secondary particles - including antiprotons - towards the AD ring is realised by a 400 kA pulsed magnetic horn and a set of magnetic dipoles and quadrupoles. The Penetrating particle ANalyzer (PAN) instrument for measurements of low energy cosmic rays / Ambrosi, Giovanni (INFN, Perugia) ; Azzarello, Philipp (Geneva U.) ; Bergmann, Benedikt (CTU, Prague) ; Bertucci, Bruna (INFN, Perugia) ; Cadoux, Franck (Geneva U.) ; Duranti, Matteo (INFN, Perugia) ; Ionica, Maria (INFN, Perugia) ; Kole, Merlin (Geneva U.) ; Paniccia, Mercedes (Geneva U.) ; Plainaki, Christina (CERN) et al.
PAN is an instrument designed to precisely measure and monitor the flux, composition, and direction of highly penetrating particles (>100MeV/nucleon) in deep space and interplanetary missions with an energy resolution better than 10% for nuclei from H to Fe at 1GeV/n. The detector, limited to about 20kg in mass and 20W in power consumption, is based on the well-known magnetic spectrometer detection principle, and exploits the advantages provided by the integration of ultra-thin microstrip silicon detectors, hybrid silicon pixel detectors and silicon photomultipliers.
