Neutron irradiation and electrical characterisation of the first 8” silicon pad sensor prototypes for the CMS calorimeter endcap upgrade / CMS HGCAL Collaboration
As part of its HL-LHC upgrade program, the CMS collaboration is replacing its existing endcap calorimeters with a high-granularity calorimeter (CE). The new calorimeter is a sampling calorimeter with unprecedented transverse and longitudinal readout for both electromagnetic and hadronic compartments. [...]

Performance of the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter prototype to charged pion beams of 20–300 GeV/c / CALICE Collaboration
The upgrade of the CMS experiment for the high luminosity operation of the LHC comprises the replacement of the current endcap calorimeter by a high granularity sampling calorimeter (HGCAL). The electromagnetic section of the HGCAL is based on silicon sensors interspersed between lead and copper (or copper tungsten) absorbers. [...]

Neutron tagging following atmospheric neutrino events in a water Cherenkov detector / Super-Kamiokande Collaboration
We present the development of neutron-tagging techniques in Super-Kamiokande IV using a neural network analysis. The detection efficiency of neutron capture on hydrogen is estimated to be 26%, with a mis-tag rate of 0.016 per neutrino event. [...]

Measurement of differential cross sections for the production of a Z boson in association with jets in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A measurement is presented of the production of Z bosons that decay into two electrons or muons in association with jets, in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data were recorded by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb1. [...]

Nuclear modification of Υ states in pPb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV / CMS Collaboration
Production cross sections of Υ(1S), Υ(2S), and Υ(3S) states decaying into μ+μ in proton-lead (pPb) collisions are reported using data collected by the CMS experiment at sNN= 5.02 TeV. A comparison is made with corresponding cross sections obtained with pp data measured at the same collision energy and scaled by the Pb nucleus mass number. [...]

First measurement of large area jet transverse momentum spectra in heavy-ion collisions / CMS Collaboration
Jet production in lead-lead (PbPb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV is studied with the CMS detector at the LHC, using PbPb and pp data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of 404 μb1 and 27.4 pb1, respectively. Jets with different areas are reconstructed using the anti-kT algorithm by varying the distance parameter R. [...]

Evidence for X(3872) in Pb-Pb Collisions and Studies of its Prompt Production at sNN=5.02  TeV / CMS Collaboration
The first evidence for X(3872) production in relativistic heavy ion collisions is reported. The X(3872) production is studied in lead-lead (PpPb) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sNN= 5.02 TeV per nucleon pair, using the decay chain X(3872)J/ψπ+πμ+μπ+π. [...]

Studies of charm and beauty hadron long-range correlations in pp and pPb collisions at LHC energies / CMS Collaboration
Measurements of the second Fourier harmonic coefficient (v2) of the azimuthal distributions of prompt and nonprompt D0 mesons (the latter coming from beauty hadron decays) produced in pp and pPb collisions are presented. The data samples are collected by the CMS experiment at nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energies of 13 and 8.16 TeV, respectively. [...]

Investigation into the event-activity dependence of Υ(nS) relative production in proton-proton collisions at s= 7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The ratios of the production cross sections between the excited Υ(2S) and Υ(3S) mesons and the Υ(1S) ground state, detected via their decay into two muons, are studied as a function of the number of charged particles in the event. The data are from proton-proton collisions at s= 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.8 fb1, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. [...]
