One fluid might not rule them all / Song, Huichao (speaker)
In this talk, we present our recent investigations on hydrodynamic collectivity in high-multiplicity proton--proton collisions at 13 TeV using the VISHNU hybrid model with different initial condition models, called HIJING, super-MC and TRENTo. We find that with carefully tuned parameters, hydrodynamic simulations can give reasonable descriptions of the measured two-particle correlations. [...]

Searching for small droplets of hydrodynamic fluid in proton–proton collisions at the LHC / Zhao, Wenbin (Peking U. ; Peking U., SKLNPT ; CICQM, Beijing) ; Zhou, You (Bohr Inst.) ; Murase, Koichi (Peking U., CHEP) ; Song, Huichao (Peking U. ; Peking U., SKLNPT ; CICQM, Beijing ; Peking U., CHEP)
In this paper, we investigate the hydrodynamic collectivity in high-multiplicity events of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 13 TeV, using iEBE-VISHNU hybrid model with three different initial conditions, namely, HIJING, super-MC and TRENTo. With properly tuned parameters, hydrodynamic simulations with each initial model give reasonable descriptions of the measured two-particle correlations, including the integrated and $p_{\rm T}$-differential flow for all charged and identified hadrons. Causal relativistic hydrodynamics for viscous fluids / Heinz, Ulrich W. (Ohio State U. ; CERN) ; Song, Huichao (Ohio State U.)
We report on recent results from VISH2+1, a code that solves the relativistic Israel-Stewart equations for causal viscous hydrodynamics for heavy-ion collisions with longitudinal boost invariance. We find that even ``minimal'' shear viscosity eta/s=hbar/(4pi) leads to a large reduction of elliptic flow compared to ideal fluid dynamics. [...]

Multiplicity scaling in ideal and viscous hydrodynamics / Song, Huichao (Ohio State U.) ; Heinz, Ulrich W. (Ohio State U. ; CERN)
Using numerical results from ideal and viscous relativistic hydrodynamic simulations with three different equations of state, for Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at different centralities and initial energy densities, we explore the dependence of the eccentricity-scaled elliptic flow, v_2/epsilon, and the produced entropy fraction, Delta S/S_0, on the final charged hadron multiplicity density dN_ch/dy per unit transverse overlap area S, (1/S)(dN_ch/dy). The viscous hydrodynamic simulations are performed with two different versions of the Israel-Stewart kinetic evolution equations, and in each case we investigate the dependence of the physical observables on the kinetic relaxation time. Causal viscous hydrodynamics in 2+1 dimensions for relativistic heavy-ion collisions / Song, Huichao (Ohio State U.) ; Heinz, Ulrich W. (Ohio State U. ; CERN)
We explore the effects of shear viscosity on the hydrodynamic evolution and final hadron spectra of Cu+Cu collisions at ultrarelativistic collision energies, using the newly developed (2+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic code VISH2+1. Based on the causal Israel-Stewart formalism, this code describes the transverse evolution of longitudinally boost-invariant systems without azimuthal symmetry around the beam direction. [...]

Suppression of elliptic flow in a minimally viscous quark-gluon plasma / Song, Huichao (Ohio State U.) ; Heinz, Ulrich W. (Ohio State U. ; CERN)
We compute the time evolution of elliptic flow in non-central relativistic heavy-ion collisions, using a (2+1)-dimensional code with longitudinal boost-invariance to simulate viscous fluid dynamics in the causal Israel-Stewart formulation. We show that even ``minimal'' shear viscosity eta/s=hbar/(4pi) leads to a large reduction of elliptic flow compared to ideal fluid dynamics, raising questions about the interpretation of recent experimental data from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider..
