Evolution of the nuclear spin-orbit splitting explored via the $^{32}$Si($d$,$p$)$^{33}$Si reaction using SOLARIS / Chen, J. (SUSTech, Shenzhen ; Argonne) ; Kay, B.P. (Argonne) ; Hoffman, C.R. (Argonne) ; Tang, T.L. (Argonne) ; Tolstukhin, I.A. (Argonne) ; Bazin, D. (Michigan State U.) ; Lubna, R.S. (Michigan State U.) ; Ayyad, Y. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; Beceiro-Novo, S. (Michigan State U.) ; Coombes, B.J. (Australian Natl. U., Canberra) et al.
The spin-orbit splitting between neutron 1$p$ orbitals at $^{33}$Si has been deduced using the single-neutron-adding ($d$,$p$) reaction in inverse kinematics with a beam of $^{32}$Si, a long-lived radioisotope. Reaction products were analyzed by the newly implemented SOLARIS spectrometer at the reaccelerated-beam facility at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. [...]

Direct Determination of Fission-Barrier Heights Using Light-Ion Transfer in Inverse Kinematics / Bennett, S.A. (Manchester U.) ; Garrett, K. (Manchester U.) ; Sharp, D.K. (Manchester U.) ; Freeman, S.J. (Manchester U. ; CERN) ; Smith, A.G. (Manchester U.) ; Wright, T.J. (Manchester U.) ; Kay, B.P. (Argonne, PHY) ; Tang, T.L. (Argonne, PHY) ; Tolstukhin, I.A. (Argonne, PHY) ; Ayyad, Y. (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) et al.
We demonstrate a new technique for obtaining fission data for nuclei away from $\beta$-stability. These types of data are pertinent to the astrophysical \textit{r-}process, crucial to a complete understanding of the origin of the heavy elements, and for developing a predictive model of fission. Probing the quadrupole transition strength of $^{15}$C via deuteron inelastic scattering / Chen, J. (Argonne) ; Kay, B.P. (Argonne) ; Tang, T.L. (Argonne) ; Tolstukhin, I.A. (Argonne) ; Hoffman, C.R. (Argonne) ; Li, H. (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys.) ; Yin, P. (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys.) ; Zhao, X. (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys.) ; Maris, P. (Iowa State U.) ; Vary, J.P. (Ames Lab) et al.
Deuteron elastic scattering from 15C and inelastic scattering reactions to the first excited state of 15C were studied using a radioactive beam of 15C in inverse kinematics. The scattered deuterons were measured using HELIOS. [...]

Evolution of single-particle structure near the $N=20$ island of inversion / MacGregor, P T (Manchester U.) ; Sharp, D K (Manchester U.) ; Freeman, S J (Manchester U.) ; Hoffman, C R (Argonne, PHY) ; Kay, B P (Argonne, PHY) ; Tang, T L (Argonne, PHY) ; Gaffney, L P (Liverpool U. ; CERN) ; Baader, E F (CERN) ; Borge, M J G (Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) ; Butler, P A (Liverpool U.) et al.
The single-particle properties of $^{29}$Mg have been investigated via a measurement of the $^{28}$Mg(d,p) 29Mg reaction, in inverse kinematics, using the ISOLDE Solenoidal Spectrometer. The negative-parity intruder states from the f p shell have been identified and used to benchmark modern shell-model calculations. [...]

First Exploration of Neutron Shell Structure Below Lead and Beyond $\boldsymbol{N=126}$ / Tang, T.L. (Argonne) ; Kay, B.P. (Argonne) ; Hoffman, C.R. (Argonne) ; Schiffer, J.P. (Argonne) ; Sharp, D.K. (Manchester U.) ; Gaffney, L.P. (CERN) ; Freeman, S.J. (Manchester U.) ; Mumpower, M.R. ; Arokiaraj, A. ; Baader, E.F. (CERN) et al.
The nuclei below lead but with more than 126 neutrons are crucial to an understanding of the astrophysical $r$-process in producing nuclei heavier than $A\sim190$. Despite their importance, the structure and properties of these nuclei remain experimentally untested as they are difficult to produce in nuclear reactions with stable beams. [...]
