First on-line application of the high-resolution spectroscopy laser ion source PI-LIST at ISOLDE / Heinke, Reinhard (CERN) ; Au, Mia (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Bernerd, Cyril (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Cocolios, Thomas E (Leuven U.) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Hendriks, Isabel (CERN ; Lund U. (main)) ; Jaradat, Asar A H (CERN) ; Kaja, Magdalena (Mainz U., Inst. Phys.) ; Kieck, Tom (Darmstadt, GSI ; Helmholtz Inst., Mainz) et al.
We report on the development, characterization, and first application of a specialized resonance ionization laser ion source for high-resolution spectroscopy applications below usual hot cavity Doppler broadening limitations, for on-line experiments at CERN-ISOLDE. The new PI-LIST ion source comprises perpendicular laser/atom beam interaction in a radio-frequency quadrupole unit directly downstream the hot atomizer cavity. [...]

Nuclear moments and isotope shifts of the actinide isotopes Cf249–253 probed by laser spectroscopy / Weber, Felix (Mainz U., Inst. Phys.) ; Albrecht-Schönzart, Thomas E (Florida State U.) ; Allehabi, Saleh O (New South Wales U.) ; Berndt, Sebastian (Mainz U., Inst. Phys. ; Mainz U.) ; Block, Michael (Darmstadt, GSI ; Mainz U. ; Helmholtz Inst., Mainz) ; Dorrer, Holger (Mainz U.) ; Düllmann, Christoph E (Darmstadt, GSI ; Mainz U. ; Helmholtz Inst., Mainz) ; Dzuba, Vladimir A (New South Wales U.) ; Ezold, Julie G (Oak Ridge) ; Flambaum, Victor V (New South Wales U.) et al.
We report on high-resolution laser spectroscopy studies on Cf249–253 with spectral linewidths in the order of 100 MHz carried out at the RISIKO mass separator at Mainz University. In total three atomic ground-state transitions were investigated and the hyperfine parameters for the odd-A isotopes and isotope shift for all examined isotopes have been determined from the measured spectra. Observation of the radiative decay of the ${}^{229}\mathrm{Th}$ nuclear clock isomer / Kraemer, Sandro (Leuven U. ; LMU Munich (main)) ; Moens, Janni (Leuven U.) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, Michail (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Bara, Silvia (Leuven U.) ; Beeks, Kjeld (Vienna, Tech. The nucleus of the radioisotope thorium-229 (${}^{229}$Th) features an isomer with an exceptionally low excitation energy that enables direct laser manipulation of nuclear states. For this reason, it is a leading candidate for use in next-generation optical clocks. [...]
