Positron accumulation in the GBAR experiment / GBAR Collaboration
We present a description of the GBAR positron (e+) trapping apparatus, which consists of a three stage Buffer Gas Trap (BGT) followed by a High Field Penning Trap (HFT), and discuss its performance. The overall goal of the GBAR experiment is to measure the acceleration of the neutral antihydrogen (H) atom in the terrestrial gravitational field by neutralising a positive antihydrogen ion (H+), which has been cooled to a low temperature, and observing the subsequent H annihilation following free fall. The GBAR (Gravitational Behavior of Antihydrogen at Rest) experiment at CERN requires efficient deceleration of 100 keV antiprotons provided by the new ELENA synchrotron ring to synthesize antihydrogen. This is accomplished using electrostatic deceleration optics and a drift tube that is designed to switch from -99 kV to ground when the antiproton bunch is inside – essentially a charged particle “elevator” – producing a 1 keV pulse. (Swansea U.) et al.
For the GBAR (Gravitational Behaviour of Antihydrogen at Rest) experiment at CERN's Antiproton Decelerator (AD) facility we have constructed a source of slow positrons, which uses a low-energy electron linear accelerator (linac). The driver linac produces electrons of 9 MeV kinetic energy that create positrons from bremsstrahlung-induced pair production. [...]

The Geant4 Monte-Carlo (GEMC) package is used to simulate the passage of particles through the various CLAS12 detectors. The geometry is implemented through a database of Geant4 volumes created either through the GEMC native API, by the CLAS12 geometry service, or imported from the CAD engineering model. [...]

The ASACUSA Micromegas Tracker (AMT; ASACUSA: Atomic Spectroscopy and Collisions Using Slow Antiprotons) was designed to be able to reconstruct antiproton-nucleon annihilation vertices in three dimensions. The goal of this device is to study antihydrogen formation processes in the ASACUSA cusp trap, which was designed to synthesise a spin-polarised antihydrogen beam for precise tests of Charge, Parity, and Time (CPT) symmetry invariance. The effects and the origin of the gas degradation in a gaseous detector-based tracker are investigated. The study focused on the so-called T2K gas, which turned out to be highly sensitive to pollutants. [...]

Origin and simulation of sparks in MPGD / Procureur, S (IRFU, SPhN, Saclay) ; Aune, S (IRFU, Saclay) ; Ball, J (IRFU, SPhN, Saclay) ; Charles, G (IRFU, SPhN, Saclay) ; Moreno, B (IRFU, SPhN, Saclay) ; Moutarde, H (IRFU, SPhN, Saclay) ; Sabatié, F (IRFU, SPhN, Saclay)
The development of Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors for high luminosity experiments requires a better understanding of the origin of the sparks in these detectors. Assuming a spark occurs whenever the electron number reaches the well known Raether limit, previous Geant4 simulations quantitatively reproduced the spark rate observed in Micromegas with high energy hadron beams. Leading order determination of the gluon polarisation from DIS events with high-$p_T$ hadron pairs / COMPASS Collaboration
We present a determination of the gluon polarisation Delta g/g in the nucleon, based on the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry of DIS events with a pair of large transverse-momentum hadrons in the final state. The data were obtained by the COMPASS experiment at CERN using a 160 GeV/c polarised muon beam scattering off a polarised ^6LiD target. [...]
