In this paper, we present experimental results and numerical simulations of trident production, $e^-\rightarrow e^-e^+e^-$, in a strong electromagnetic field. The experiment was conducted at CERN for the purpose of probing the strong-field parameter $\chi$ up to 2.4, using a 200 GeV electron beam penetrating a 400 $\mu$m thick germanium crystal oriented along the $\langle 110\rangle$ axis. We demonstrate experimentally that the trident process $e^-\rightarrow e^-e^+e^-$ in a strong external field, with a spatial extension comparable to the effective radiation length, is well understood theoretically. The experiment, conducted at CERN, probes values for the strong field parameter $\chi$ up to 2.4. [...]

We present the design of a pair spectrometer for use at FACET-II, where there is a need for spectroscopy of photons having energies up to 10 GeV. Incoming gammas are converted to high-energy positron-electron pairs, which are then subsequently analyzed in a dipole magnet. [...]

/ Nielsen, CF ; Justesen, JB ; Soerensen, AH ; Uggerhoej, UI ; Wistisen, TN ; Di Piazza, A ; Holtzapple, R
In the NA63 experiment of April 2018 data was taken for 20, 40 and 80 GeV electrons and positrons aligned to the h100i axis of a diamond crystal of thickness 1.5 mm, as well as for 40 and 80 GeV electrons on a 1.0 mm thick diamond aligned to the h100i axis. [...]

In this paper, we will describe some of the recent experimental measurements [1, 2, 3] performed at CESRTA [4], and the supporting simulations, which probe the interaction of the electron cloud with the stored beam. These experiments have been done over a wide range of beam energies, emittances, bunch currents, and fill patterns, to gather sufficient information to be able to fully characterize the beam-electron-cloud interaction and validate the simulation programs. Intrabeam scattering (IBS) dilutes the emittance of low energy, low emittance rings. Because CesrTA can be operated at low energies with low transverse emittances and high bunch intensity, it is well-suited for the study of IBS. [...]

Electron Cloud at Low Emittance in CesrTA
/ Palmer, Mark (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Alexander, James (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Billing, Michael (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Calvey, Joseph (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Conolly, Christopher (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Crittenden, James (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Dobbins, John (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Dugan, Gerald (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Eggert, Nicholas (Cornell U., CLASSE) ; Fontes, Ernest (Cornell U., CLASSE) et al.
The Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) has been reconfigured as a test accelerator (CesrTA) for a program of electron cloud (EC) research at ultra low emittance. The instrumentation in the ring has been upgraded with local diagnostics for measurement of cloud density and with improved beam diagnostics for the characterization of both the low emittance performance and the beam dynamics of high intensity bunch trains interacting with the cloud [...]
