New developments in cost modeling for the LHC computing / Biscarat, Catherine (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Boccali, Tommaso (INFN, Pisa) ; Bonacorsi, Daniele (INFN, Bologna) ; Bozzi, Concezio (CERN ; Ferrara U.) ; Costanzo, Davide (Sheffield U.) ; Duellmann, Dirk (CERN) ; Elmsheuser, Johannes (Brookhaven Natl. The increase in the scale of LHC computing during Run 3 and Run 4 (HL-LHC) will certainly require radical changes to the computing models and the data processing of the LHC experiments. The working group established by WLCG and the HEP Software Foundation to investigate all aspects of the cost of computing and how to optimise them has continued producing results and improving our understanding of this process. System performance and cost modelling in LHC computing / Biscarat, Catherine (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Boccali, Tommaso (INFN, Pisa) ; Bonacorsi, Daniele (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Bozzi, Concezio (CERN ; INFN, Ferrara ; Ferrara U.) ; Costanzo, Davide (Sheffield U.) ; Duellmann, Dirk (CERN) ; Elmsheuser, Johannes (Brookhaven) ; Fede, Eric (CC, Villeurbanne) ; Flix Molina, José (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Giordano, Domenico (CERN) et al.
The increase in the scale of LHC computing expected for Run 3 and even more so for Run 4 (HL-LHC) over the next ten years will certainly require radical changes to the computing models and the data processing of the LHC experiments. Translating the requirements of the physics programmes into computing resource needs is a complicated process and subject to significant uncertainties. [...]

A Roadmap for HEP Software and Computing R&D for the 2020s / HEP Software Foundation Collaboration
Particle physics has an ambitious and broad experimental programme for the coming decades. This programme requires large investments in detector hardware, either to build new facilities and experiments, or to upgrade existing ones. [...]

The differential production cross section of the $\phi$(1020) meson in $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV pp collisions measured with the ATLAS Detector / ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement is presented of the $\phi ➝ K^+K^−$ production cross section at √s = 7 TeV using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 383 μb$^{−1}$ collected with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Selection of $\phi$(1020) mesons is based on the identification of charged kaons by their energy loss in the pixel detector. [...]

A search for $t\bar{t}$ resonances in the lepton plus jets final state with ATLAS using 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV / ATLAS Collaboration
A search for new particles that decay into top quark pairs ($t\bar{t}$) is performed with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC using an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton (pp) collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV. In the $t\bar{t} \to WbWb$ decay, the lepton plus jets final state is used, where one W boson decays leptonically and the other hadronically. [...]

Search for resonant diboson production in the $WW/WZ \to l\nu jj$ decay channels with the ATLAS detector at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV / ATLAS Collaboration
A search for resonant diboson production using a data sample corresponding to 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV is presented. The search for a narrow resonance in the WW or WZ mass distribution is conducted in a final state with an electron or a muon, missing transverse energy and at least two jets. [...]

Measurement of the production cross section of jets in association with a Z boson in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Measurements of the production of jets of particles in association with a Z boson in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV are presented, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6/fb collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Inclusive and differential jet cross sections in Z events, with Z decaying into electron or muon pairs, are measured for jets with transverse momentum pT > 30 GeV and rapidity |y| < 4.4. [...]

Study of heavy-flavor quarks produced in association with top-quark pairs at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV using the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
Using a sample of dilepton top-quark pair ($t\bar{t}$) candidate events, a study is performed of the production of top-quark pairs together with heavy-flavor (HF) quarks, the sum of $t\bar{t}+b+X$ and $t\bar{t}$+c+X, collectively referred to as $t\bar{t}$ + HF. The data set used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.7  $fb{−1}$ of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Measurement with the ATLAS detector of multi-particle azimuthal correlations in p+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=5.02 TeV / ATLAS Collaboration
In order to study further the long-range correlations (“ridge”) observed recently in p+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5:02 TeV, the second-order azimuthal anisotropy parameter of charged particles, $v_2$, has been measured with the cumulant method using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 1 microbarn-1, the parameter $v_2$ has been obtained using two- and four-particle cumulants over the pseudorapidity range |$\eta$| < 2.5.
