Observation of the rare $B^0_s\to\mu^+\mu^-$ decay from the combined analysis of CMS and LHCb data / CMS and LHCb Collaborations
A joint measurement is presented of the branching fractions $B^0_s\to\mu^+\mu^-$ and $B^0\to\mu^+\mu^-$ in proton-proton collisions at the LHC by the CMS and LHCb experiments. The data samples were collected in 2011 at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, and in 2012 at 8 TeV. [...]

Studies of beauty baryon decays to $D^0 ph^-$ and $\Lambda_c^+ h^-$ final states / LHCb collaboration
Decays of beauty baryons to the $D^0 p h^-$ and $\Lambda_c^+ h^-$ final states (where $h$ indicates a pion or a kaon) are studied using a data sample of $pp$ collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb$^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb detector. The Cabibbo-suppressed decays $\Lambda_b^0\to D^0 p K^-$ and $\Lambda_b^0\to \Lambda_c^+ K^-$ are observed and their branching fractions are measured with respect to the decays $\Lambda_b^0\to D^0 p \pi^-$ and $\Lambda_b^0\to \Lambda_c^+ \pi^-$. Study of forward Z+jet production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV / LHCb collaboration
A measurement of the $Z(\rightarrow\mu^+\mu^-)$+jet production cross-section in $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV is presented. The analysis is based on an integrated luminosity of $1.0\,\text{fb}^{-1}$ recorded by the LHCb experiment. [...]

Measurement of CP violation in the phase space of $B^{\pm} \rightarrow K^{+} K^{-} \pi^{\pm}$ and $B^{\pm} \rightarrow \pi^{+} \pi^{-} \pi^{\pm}$ decays / LHCb collaboration
The charmless decays $B^{\pm} \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{\pm}$ and $B^{\pm} \rightarrow \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{\pm}$ are reconstructed in a data set, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb$^{-1}$ of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected by LHCb in 2011. The inclusive charge asymmetries of these modes are measured to be $A_{CP}(B^{\pm} \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{\pm}) =-0.141 \pm 0.040 (stat) \pm 0.018 (syst) \pm 0.007 (J/\psi K^{\pm})$ and $A_{CP}(B^{\pm} \rightarrow \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{\pm}) = 0.117 \pm 0.021 (stat) \pm 0.009 (syst) \pm 0.007 (J/\psi K^{\pm})$, where the third uncertainty is due to the CP asymmetry of the $B^{\pm} \rightarrow J/\psi K^{\pm}$ reference mode. Search for the rare decay $D^0 \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ / LHCb collaboration
A search for the rare decay $D^0 \to \mu^+ \mu^-$is performed using a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.9 fb$^{-1}$, of $pp$ collisions collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV by the LHCb experiment. The observed number of events is consistent with the background expectations and corresponds to an upper limit of ${\cal B}(D^0 \to \mu^+ \mu^-) < 6.2(7.6) \times 10^{-9}$ at 90% (95%) confidence level. Rare decays at LHCb / Adrover Pacheco, Cosme (Marseille, CPPM) /The LHCb Collaboration
Rare decays are excellent tests to infer the presence of physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM), as they occur through processes prohibited at tree level in the SM. Any deviation from the SM prediction in branching fraction or angular distributions of such decays can lead to indications of new physics..

$B^{0}_{(s)} \to \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ searches at LHCb / Adrover Pacheco, Cosme (Marseille, CPPM)
The rare decays $B^{0}_{s} \to \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ and $B^{0} \to \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ are benchmark channels to constrain models beyond the Standard Model (SM) with a larger Higgs sector. In the SM these processes are highly suppressed as they occur through loop processes. [...]

9. LHCb: Search for $B^0_s \to \mu^+\mu^−$ and $B^0 \to \mu^+\mu^−$ decays at LHCb
Reference: Poster-2012-236
Keywords:  flavour physics  rare decay
Created: 2012. -1 p
Creator(s): Adrover Pacheco, Cosme

A search for $B^0_s \to \mu^+\mu^−$ and $B^0_s \to \mu^+\mu^−$ decays is performed using 1.0 fb$^{−1}$ of pp collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV with the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. For both decays the number of observed events is consistent with expectation from background and Standard Model signal predictions. Upper limits on the branching fractions are determined to be BR$(B^0_s \to \mu^+\mu^−) < 4.5 (3.8) \times 10^{−9}$ and BR$(B^0 \to \mu^+\mu^−) < 1.0 (0.81) \times 10^{–9}$ at 95 % (90 %) confidence level.
