First demonstration of in-beam performance of bent Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors / ALICE ITS project Collaboration
A novel approach for designing the next generation of vertex detectors foresees to employ wafer-scale sensors that can be bent to truly cylindrical geometries after thinning them to thicknesses of 20-40$\mu$m. To solidify this concept, the feasibility of operating bent MAPS was demonstrated using 1.5$\times$3cm ALPIDE chips. [...]

Charge collection properties of TowerJazz 180 nm CMOS Pixel Sensors in dependence of pixel geometries and bias parameters, studied using a dedicated test-vehicle: the Investigator chip / Aglieri Rinella, G. (CERN) ; Chaosong, G. (Hua-Zhong Normal U.) ; di Mauro, A. (CERN) ; Eum, J. (Pusan Natl. U.) ; Hillemanns, H. (CERN) ; Junique, A. (CERN) ; Keil, M. (CERN) ; Kim, D. (Dongguk U.) ; Kim, H. This paper contains a compilation of parameters influencing the charge collection process extracted from a comprehensive study of partially depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors with small (<25 um$^2$) collection electrodes fabricated in the TowerJazz 180 nm CMOS process. These results gave guidance for the optimisation of the diode implemented in ALPIDE, the chip used in the second generation Inner Tracking System of ALICE, and serve as reference for future simulation studies of similar devices. Monte Carlo simulation of charge collection processes in Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors for the ALICE ITS upgrade / Šuljić, Miljenko (INFN, Trieste ; Trieste U. ; CERN) ; Camerini, Paolo (INFN, Trieste ; Trieste U.) ; van Hoorne, Jacobus W (CERN)
A precise simulation of the response of Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) is difficult to achieve because of the difficulty in describing the charge collection process both in the epitaxial layer, a typically only partially depleted active volume, and in the substrate, a low resistivity bulk, of the sensor. Transient TCAD simulations provide good description of the electric field, but are too slow to be used in the simulation and analysis chain of HEP experiments. [...]

The upgrade of the ATLAS tracking detector for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider at CERN requires the development of novel radiation hard silicon sensor technologies. For the development of depleted CMOS sensors for ATLAS we combined small electrodes with minimal capacitance and advanced processing for fully depleted active sensor volume to achieve radiation hard CMOS sensors in line with ATLAS ITk specifications. The upgrade of the ATLAS tracking detector (ITk) for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider at CERN requires the development of novel radiation hard silicon sensor technologies. Latest developments in CMOS sensor processing offer the possibility of combining high-resistivity substrates with on-chip high-voltage biasing to achieve a large depleted active sensor volume. [...]

Development in a Novel CMOS Process for Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors / Moustakas, K (Bonn U.) ; Bates, R (Glasgow U.) ; Buttar, C (Glasgow U.) ; Dalla, M (INFN, Bologna ; U. Recent advancements in CMOS technologies enable Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor (DMAPS) realizations by exploiting high resistivity and/or high voltage biasing to deplete a large active sensing volume. DMAPS have emerged as a promising alternative for particle detection in high energy physics due to their low cost, reduced manufacturing complexity and high granularity. [...]

Multiplicity dependence of (anti-)deuteron production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV / ALICE Collaboration
In this letter, the production of deuterons and anti-deuterons in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV is studied as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity density at mid-rapidity with the ALICE detector at the LHC. Production yields are measured at mid-rapidity in five multiplicity classes and as a function of the deuteron transverse momentum ($p_{\rm{T}}$). [...]

Calibration of the photon spectrometer PHOS of the ALICE experiment / ALICE Collaboration
The procedure for the energy calibration of the high granularity electromagnetic calorimeter PHOS of the ALICE experiment is presented. The methods used to perform the relative gain calibration, to evaluate the geometrical alignment and the corresponding correction of the absolute energy scale, to obtain the nonlinearity correction coefficients and finally, to calculate the time-dependent calibration corrections, are discussed and illustrated by the PHOS performance in proton-proton (pp) collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. Measurement of ${\rm D^0}$, ${\rm D^+}$, ${\rm D^{*+}}$ and ${{\rm D^+_s}}$ production in pp collisions at $\mathbf{\sqrt{{\textit s}}~=~5.02~TeV}$ with ALICE / ALICE Collaboration
The measurements of the production of prompt ${\rm D^0}$, ${\rm D^+}$, ${\rm D^{*+}}$, and ${{\rm D^+_s}}$ mesons in proton--proton (pp) collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are reported. D mesons were reconstructed at mid-rapidity ($|y|<0.5$) via their hadronic decay channels ${\rm D}^0 \to {\rm K}^-\pi^+$, ${\rm D}^+\to {\rm K}^-\pi^+\pi^+$, ${\rm D}^{*+} \to {\rm D}^0 \pi^+ \to {\rm K}^- \pi^+ \pi^+$, ${\rm D^{+}_{s}\to \phi\pi^+\to K^{+} K^{-} \pi^{+}}$, and their charge conjugates.
