Generalizing mkFit and its Application to HL-LHC / CMS Collaboration
MkFit is an implementation of the Kalman filter-based track reconstruction algorithm that exploits both thread- and data-level parallelism. In the past few years the project transitioned from the R\&D; phase to deployment in the Run-3 offline workflow of the CMS experiment. [...]

Speeding up the CMS track reconstruction with a parallelized and vectorized Kalman-filter-based algorithm during the LHC Run 3 / CMS Collaboration
One of the most challenging computational problems in the Run 3 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and more so in the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) is expected to be finding and fitting charged-particle tracks during event reconstruction. [...]

Strategies and performance of the CMS silicon tracker alignment during LHC Run 2 / CMS Collaboration
The strategies for and the performance of the CMS silicon tracking system alignment during the 2015-2018 data-taking period of the LHC are described. The alignment procedures during and after data taking are explained. [...]

Multi-threaded Output in CMS using ROOT / Riley, Daniel (Cornell U.) /CMS Collaboration
CMS has worked aggressively to make use of multi-core architectures, routinely running 4 to 8 core production jobs in 2017. The primary impediment to efficiently scaling beyond 8 cores has been our ROOT-based output module, which has been necessarily single threaded. [...]

Data Bookkeeping Service 3 - Providing event metadata in CMS / Giffels, Manuel (CERN) ; Guo, Yuyi (Fermilab) ; Riley, Daniel (Cornell U.) /CMS Collaboration
The Data Bookkeeping Service 3 provides a catalog of event metadata for Monte Carlo and recorded data of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, Geneva. It comprises all necessary information for tracking datasets, their processing history and associations between runs, files and datasets, on a large scale of about $200,000$ datasets and more than $40$ million files, which adds up in around $700$ GB of metadata. A New Boson with a Mass of 125 GeV Observed with the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider / CMS Collaboration
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world. Its discovery would verify the existence of a complex scalar field thought to give mass to three of the carriers of the electroweak force—the W+, W–, and Z0 bosons—as well as to the fundamental quarks and leptons. [...]

Observation of a new boson at a mass of 125 GeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC / CMS Collaboration
Results are presented from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 and 8 TeV in the CMS experiment at the LHC, using data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 5.1 inverse femtobarns at 7 TeV and 5.3 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. The search is performed in five decay modes: $\gamma\gamma$, ZZ, WW, $\tau^+ \tau^-$, and $b\bar{b}$. [...]

Strange Particle Production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 0.9 and 7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The spectra of strange hadrons are measured in proton-proton collisions, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7 TeV. The K0_s, Lambda, and Xi^- particles and their antiparticles are reconstructed from their decay topologies and the production rates are measured as functions of rapidity and transverse momentum. Measurement of $B\overline{B}$ angular correlations based on secondary vertex reconstruction at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A measurement of the angular correlations between beauty and anti-beauty hadrons (B B-bar) produced in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the CERN LHC is presented, probing for the first time the region of small angular separation. The B hadrons are identified by the presence of displaced secondary vertices from their decays. [...]
