COTS BJT Radiation Qualification Methodology for Highly Distributed Systems in Mixed-Field Environments / Andreetta, Gabriele (CERN ; U. Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) are commonly used in critical radiation-tolerant electronic systems, making their radiation qualification essential to ensure compliance with project-specific radiation design requirements (RDRs). Although the response of BJTs to radiation is well-documented, their sensitivity to total ionizing dose (TID) and displacement damage (DD) can complicate their qualification for systems exposed to diverse radiation environments, such as high-energy particle accelerators. Measurement of the natC(n,p) and natC(n,d) reactions from n_TOF at CERN / n_TOF Collaboration
The energy dependence of the cross section of the (n,p) and (n,d) reactions on $^\text{nat}$C has been studied for the first time at the n_TOF facility at CERN, from the particle detection threshold up to 25 MeV. The measurement was performed with two telescopes made of position-sensitive silicon $ΔE$-$E$ detectors, covering the angular range from 20° to 140°. [...]

Neutron capture measurements for s-process nucleosynthesis / n_TOF Collaboration
This article presents a review about the main CERN n_TOF contributions to the field of neutron-capture experiments of interest for s-process nucleosynthesis studies over the last 25 years, with a special focus on the measurement of radioactive isotopes. A few recent capture experiments on stable isotopes of astrophysical interest are also discussed. [...]

Crystal collimation of heavy-ion beams at the Large Hadron Collider / Redaelli, S (CERN) ; Aberle, O (CERN) ; Abramov, A (CERN) ; Bruce, R (CERN) ; Cai, R (CERN ; LPHE, Lausanne) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; D'Andrea, M (CERN) ; Demassieux, Q (CERN) ; Dewhurst, K (CERN) ; Di Castro, M (CERN) et al.
An important upgrade has been deployed for the collimation system of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for lead-ion beams that are already planned to reach their high-luminosity target intensity upgrade in the ongoing LHC Run 3 (2022–2026). While certain effects like e-cloud, beam-beam, impedance, injection, and dump protection are relaxed with ion beams, halo collimation becomes an increasing challenge, as the conventional multistage collimation system is about two orders of magnitude less efficient than that for proton beams. Design and Characterization of a Radiation-Tolerant Wireless Physical Layer for Control Applications in CERN Particle Accelerators / Scialdone, Antonio (CERN ; IES, Montpellier) ; Ferraro, Rudy (CERN) ; Danzeca, Salvatore (CERN) ; Saigne, Frederic (IES, Montpellier) ; Boch, Jérôme (IES, Montpellier) ; Dilillo, Luigi (IES, Montpellier ; U. Montpellier, L2C) ; Masi, Alessandro (CERN)
The article explores the design and radiation characterization of a wireless physical layer (PHY) specifically tailored for equipment control in harsh radiation environments, such as those in particle accelerators like the large hadron collider (LHC). The PHY, built with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), leverages a software-defined radio (SDR), which, compared to dedicated transceivers, provides more flexibility and enables enhanced reliability through mitigation techniques.
