β decay of $^{6}$He into the α+d continuum
/ Pfützner, M (Warsaw U.) ; Dominik, W (Warsaw U.) ; Janas, Z (Warsaw U.) ; Mazzocchi, C (Warsaw U.) ; Pomorski, M (Warsaw U.) ; Bezbakh, A A (Dubna, JINR) ; Borge, M J G (Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia ; CERN) ; Chrapkiewicz, K (Warsaw U.) ; Chudoba, V (Dubna, JINR) ; Frederickx, R (Leuven U.) et al.
The rare β-decay channel of $^{6}$He into the α+d continuum was investigated at the REX-ISOLDE facility. Bunches of postaccelerated $^{6}$He ions were implanted into the optical time projection chamber (OTPC), where the decays with emission of charged particles were recorded. [...]

Astron. ; SCK-CEN, Mol) ; Fedosseev, V N (CERN) et al.
The structure of low-spin states originating from shape-coexisting configurations in $^{68}_{40}$Ni$_{28}$ was directly probed via the two-neutron transfer reaction $^{66}$Ni$(t,p)^{68}$Ni in inverse kinematics using a radioactive ion beam on a radioactive target. The direct feeding to the first excited 0$^+$ state was measured for center-of-mass angles 4°–16° and amounts to an integral of 4.2(16)% relative to the ground state. [...]

/ Pakarinen, J (Jyvaskyla U. ; CERN) ; Grahn, T (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Gaffney, L P (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron. ; Liverpool U.) ; Algora, A (Valencia U., IFIC ; Debrecen, Inst. Nucl. The neutron-deficient ${}^{\mathrm{196,198}}$Pb isotopes have been studied in Coulomb-excitation experiments employing the Miniball γ-ray spectrometer and radioactive ion beams from the REX-ISOLDE post-accelerator at CERN. The reduced transition probabilities of the first excited 2(+) states in (196)Pb and (198)Pb nuclei have been measured for the first time. [...]

Collective 2$^{+1}$ excitations in$^{206}$Po and$^{208,210}$Rn
/ Grahn, T (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Pakarinen, J (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys. ; CERN) ; Jokiniemi, L (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Albers, M (Cologne U.) ; Auranen, K (Jyvaskyla U. ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Bauer, C (Darmstadt, Tech. In the present study, $B(E2, 2^{+1}\rightarrow 0^{+1})$ values have been measured in the$^{208,210}$Rn and$^{206}$Po nuclei through Coulomb excitation of re-accelerated radioactive beams in inverse kinematics at CERN-ISOLDE. These nuclei have been proposed to lie in, or at the boundary of the region where the seniority scheme should persist. [...]

$^{12}$C+p resonant elastic scattering in the Maya active target
/ Sambi, S (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Raabe, R ; Borge, M J G (CERN) ; Caamano, M ; Damoy, S (GANIL) ; Fernández-Domínguez, B ; Flavigny, F ; Fynbo, H ; Gibelin, J (Caen U.) ; Grinyer, G F (GANIL) et al.
In a proof-of-principle measurement, the Maya active target detector was employed for a$^{12}$C(p, p) resonant elastic scattering experiment in inverse kinematics. The excitation energy region from 0 to 3MeV above the proton breakup threshold in$^{13}$N was investigated in a single measurement. [...]

Shapes and collectivity in neutron deficient even-mass 188–198Pb isotopes
/ Pakarinen, J (Jyvaskyla U. ; CERN ; Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Grahn, T (Jyvaskyla U. ; CERN) ; Algora, A (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Bree, N (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Cocolios, T E (CERN) ; Diriken, J (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Fernier, P (CERN) ; Gaffney, L P (Liverpool U. ; KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. The neutron deficient $^{188–198}$Pb isotopes have been studied in a Coulomb excitation measurement employing the Miniball spectrometer and radioactive beams from REX-ISOLDE, CERN. These isotopes are of particular importance as they lie in a transitional region, where the intruding structures, associated with different deformed shapes, come down in energy close to the spherical ground state. Determination of the B(E3, 0(+) -> 3(-))-excitation strength in octupole-correlated nuclei near A approx 224 by the means of Coulomb excitation at REX-ISOLDE
/ Scheck, M ; Gaffney, L P ; Butler, P A ; Hayes, A B ; Wenander, F (CERN) ; Albers, M ; Bastin, B ; Bauer, C ; Blazhev, A ; Bönig, S et al.
The IS475 collaboration conducted Coulomb-excitation experiments with postaccelerated radioactive (220)Rn and (224)Ra beams at the REX-ISOLDE facility. The beam particles (E(beam) ≈ 2.83 MeV/u) were Coulomb excited using (60)Ni, (114)Cd, and (120)Sn scattering targets. [...]

Studies of pear-shaped nuclei using accelerated radioactive beams

There is strong circumstantial evidence that certain heavy, unstable atomic nuclei are ‘octupole deformed’, that is, distorted into a pear shape. This contrasts with the more prevalent rugby-ball shape of nuclei with reflection-symmetric, quadrupole deformations. [...]

Two-neutron transfer to $^{9}$Li will populate the ground state of $^{11}$Li as well as low-lying resonances in a way that is complementary to studies of these states performed at higher beam energies. [...]
