II.7 - Cryogenics for superconducting devices / Lebrun, Philippe (CERN)
This introduction to cryogenics focuses on the aspects of low-temperature science and technology applicable to the cooling of superconducting devices: properties of cryogenic fluids (helium and nitrogen) as compared to solid materials, refrigeration and liquefaction, heat transfer and thermal insulation, and use of cold vapour for thermal screening in cryostats and ancillaries such as current leads..

Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study Report Volume 2 : Accelerators, technical infrastructure and safety / Benedikt, M. (ed.) (CERN) ; Zimmermann, F. (CERN) ; Auchmann, B. In response to the 2020 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the Future Circular Collider (FCC) Feasibility Study was launched as an international collaboration hosted by CERN. The FCC ‘integrated programme’, described in this report, in a first stage consists of a highest-luminosity electron-positron collider, FCC-ee, serving as Higgs, top and electroweak factory, with a subsequent energy-frontier proton-proton collider, FCC-hh, as the second stage.     The FCC-ee is designed to operate at four baseline centre-of-mass energies, corresponding to the Z pole, the WW pair production threshold, the ZH production peak, and the top/anti-top production threshold, always delivering the highest possible luminosities to four experiments. Volume 3 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents studies related to civil engineering, the development of a project implementation scenario, and environmental and sustainability aspects. The report details the iterative improvements made to the civil engineering concepts since 2018, taking into account subsurface conditions, accelerator and experiment requirements, and territorial considerations. Volume 1 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents an overview of the physics case, experimental programme, and detector concepts for the Future Circular Collider (FCC). This volume outlines how the FCC would address some of the most profound open questions in particle physics, from precision studies of the Higgs and EW bosons and of the top quark, to the exploration of physics beyond the Standard Model. Up and Down Quark Structure of the Proton / D0 Collaboration
We measure proton structure parameters sensitive primarily to valence quarks using 8.6 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the D0 detector in $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV $p\bar{p}$ collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. We exploit the property of the forward-backward asymmetry in dilepton events to be factorized in to distinct structure parameters and electroweak quark-level asymmetries. [...]

Impact of cross-section uncertainties on supernova neutrino spectral parameter fitting in the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment / DUNE Collaboration
A primary goal of the upcoming Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is to measure the $\mathcal{O}(10)$ MeV neutrinos produced by a Galactic core-collapse supernova if one should occur during the lifetime of the experiment. The liquid-argon-based detectors planned for DUNE are expected to be uniquely sensitive to the $\nu_e$ component of the supernova flux, enabling a wide variety of physics and astrophysics measurements. Identification and reconstruction of low-energy electrons in the ProtoDUNE-SP detector / DUNE Collaboration
Measurements of electrons from $\nu_e$ interactions are crucial for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) neutrino oscillation program, as well as searches for physics beyond the standard model, supernova neutrino detection, and solar neutrino measurements. This article describes the selection and reconstruction of low-energy (Michel) electrons in the ProtoDUNE-SP detector. [...]
