Effect of High-Magnetic Field Region Geometry on the Efficiency of a 750 MHz IH Structure / Moreno, Gabriela (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Battaglia, Maria Cristina (Unlisted, ES) ; Calvo, Pedro (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Carmona, José Miguel (Unlisted, ES) ; Gavela, Daniel (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Giner Navarro, Jorge (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Lombardi, Alessandra (CERN) ; López López, Ricardo (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Oliver, Concepcion (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Pérez Morales, Jose (Madrid, CIEMAT)
High frequency structures generally translate to high efficiency performances thanks to reduced surfaces of the inner cavity. Two round-profiles geometry and some variations of two important parameters of a 750 MHz IH-DTL are proposed in this paper in order to improve shunt impedance performance regarding an existing solution with flat-walled cavity developed by CERN. Cell Geometry Optimization for Dipole Kick Correction in a High-Frequency IH Structure / López López, Ricardo (Madrid, CIEMAT ; Carlos III U., Madrid) ; Battaglia, Maria Cristina (Unlisted, ES) ; Calvo, Pedro (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Carmona, José Miguel (Unlisted, ES) ; Gavela, Daniel (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Giner Navarro, Jorge (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Lombardi, Alessandra (CERN) ; Moreno, Gabriela (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Oliver, Concepcion (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Pérez Morales, Jose (Madrid, CIEMAT)
Given the asymmetry in the stem configuration of an IH-DTL structure, an electric dipole component is always present between drift tubes, and it is especially significant for reduced dimensions in high-frequency regimes. Here we study the effect of different modifications of the drift tubes geometry of a 750 MHz IH-DTL to eliminate the impact of the dipole component in the transverse beam dynamics. [...]

The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) beam-based acceleration baseline uses high-gradient travelling wave accelerating structures at a frequency of 12 GHz. In order to prove the performance of these structures at high peak power and short pulse width RF, two klystron-based test facilities have been put in operation in the last years. [...]

Compact and more affordable, facilities for proton therapy are now entering the market of commercial medical accelerators. At CERN, a joint collaboration between CLIC and TERA Foundation led to the design, fabrication and testing of a high gradient accelerating structure prototype, capable of halving the length of state-of-art light ion therapy linacs. Fabrication and high-gradient testing of an accelerating structure made from milled halves / Wuensch, Walter (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Bowden, Gordon (SLAC) ; Catalán Lasheras, Nuria (CERN) ; Dolgashev, Valery (SLAC) ; Esperante Pereira, Daniel (Valencia U., IFIC ; CERN) ; Giansiracusa, Paul (Melbourne U.) ; Giner Navarro, Jorge (CERN ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; Haase, Andrew (SLAC) et al.
Accelerating structures made from parts which follow symmetry planes offer many potential advantages over traditional disk-based structures: more options for joining (from bonding to welding), following this more options for material state (heat treated or not) and potentially lower cost since structures can be made from fewer parts. An X-band structure made from milled halves, and with a standard benchmarked CLIC test structure design has been fabricated and high-gradient tested above 95 MV/m..

The RF breakdown rate is crucial for the luminosity performance of the CLIC linear collider. The required breakdown rate at the design gradient of 100 MV/m has been demonstrated, without beam presence, in a number of 12 GHz CLIC prototype structures. [...]

The IFIC High-Gradient (HG) Radio Frequency (RF) laboratory is designed to host a high-power infrastructure for testing HG S-band normal-conducting RF accelerating structures and has been under construction since 2016. The main objective of the facility is to develop HG S-band accelerating structures and to contribute to the study of HG phenomena. [...]

Statistics of vacuum breakdown in the high-gradient and low-rate regime / Wuensch, Walter (CERN) ; Degiovanni, Alberto (CERN) ; Calatroni, Sergio (CERN) ; Korsbäck, Anders (Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Djurabekova, Flyura (Helsinki Inst. of Phys.) ; Rajamäki, Robin (Aalto U.) ; Giner-Navarro, Jorge (Valencia U., IFIC)
In an increasing number of high-gradient linear accelerator applications, accelerating structures must operate with both high surface electric fields and low breakdown rates. Understanding the statistical properties of breakdown occurrence in such a regime is of practical importance for optimizing accelerator conditioning and operation algorithms, as well as of interest for efforts to understand the physical processes which underlie the breakdown phenomenon. Beam-Loading Effect on Breakdown Rate in High-Gradient Accelerating Structures / Tecker, Frank (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Catalán Lasheras, Nuria (CERN) ; Corsini, Roberto (CERN) ; Degiovanni, Alberto (Unlisted, CH ; CERN) ; Gamba, Davide (CERN ; Oxford U., JAI) ; Giner Navarro, Jorge (CERN ; Valencia U., IFIC) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN) ; McMonagle, Gerard (CERN) ; Navarro Quirante, Jose Luis (Unlisted, CH ; CERN) et al.
The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) study for a future electron-positron collider with a center-of-mass energy up to 3 TeV aims for an accelerating gradient of 100 MV/m. The gradient is limited by RF breakdowns, and the luminosity requirements impose a limit on the admissible RF breakdown rate. [...]
