Highly charged radioactive ions can be stored for extended periods of time in storage rings which allows for precision measurements of their decay modes. The straightforward motivation for performing such studies is that fully ionised nuclei or few-electron ions can be viewed as clean quantum-mechanical systems, in which the interactions of the many electrons can be either excluded or treated precisely. New test of modulated electron capture decay of hydrogen-like $^{142}$Pm ions: precision measurement of purely exponential decay / FRS-ESR Collaboration
An experiment addressing electron capture (EC) decay of hydrogen-like $^{142}$Pm$^{60+}$ ions has been conducted at the experimental storage ring (ESR) at GSI. The decay appears to be purely exponential and no modulations were observed. [...]

BREIT code: Analytical solution of the balance rate equations for charge-state evolutions of heavy-ion beams in matter / Winckler, N (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Rybalchenko, A (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Shevelko, V P (Lebedev Inst.) ; Al-Turany, M (CERN ; Darmstadt, GSI) ; Kollegger, T (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Stöhlker, Th (Darmstadt, GSI ; Jena U. ; Helmholtz Inst., Jena)
A detailed description of a recently developed BREIT computer code (Balance Rate Equations of Ion Transportation) for calculating charge-state fractions of ion beams passing through matter is presented. The code is based on the analytical solutions of the differential balance equations for the charge-state fractions as a function of the target thickness and can be used for calculating the ion evolutions in gaseous, solid and plasma targets. Efficient Time Frame Building for Online Data Reconstruction in ALICE Experiment / Rybalchenko, A (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Al-Turany, M (Darmstadt, GSI ; CERN) ; Kouzinopoulos, C (CERN) ; Winckler, N (Darmstadt, GSI)
After the Long Shutdown 2 period, the upgraded ALICE detector at the LHC will produce more than a terabyte of data per second. The data, constituted from a continuous un-triggered stream data, have to be distributed from about 250 First Level Processor nodes (FLPs) to about 1500 Event Processing Nodes (EPNs). [...]

ALFA: The new ALICE-FAIR software framework / Al-Turany, M (Darmstadt, GSI ; CERN) ; Buncic, P (CERN) ; Hristov, P (CERN) ; Kollegger, T (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Kouzinopoulos, C (CERN) ; Lebedev, A (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Lindenstruth, V (Darmstadt, GSI ; Frankfurt U., FIAS) ; Manafov, A (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Richter, M (CERN ; Oslo U.) ; Rybalchenko, A (Darmstadt, GSI) et al.
The commonalities between the ALICE and FAIR experiments and their computing requirements led to the development of large parts of a common software framework in an experiment independent way. The FairRoot project has already shown the feasibility of such an approach for the FAIR experiments and extending it beyond FAIR to experiments at other facilities[1, 2]. [...]

High-resolution measurement of the time-modulated orbital electron capture and of the $\beta^+$ decay of hydrogen-like $^{142}$Pm$^{60+}$ ions / Two-Body-Weak-Decays Collaboration
The periodic time modulations, found recently in the two-body orbital electron-capture (EC) decay of both, hydrogen-like $^{140}$Pr$^{58+}$ and $^{142}$Pm$^{60+}$ ions, with periods near to 7s and amplitudes of about 20%, were re-investigated for the case of $^{142}$Pm$^{60+}$ by using a 245 MHz resonator cavity with a much improved sensitivity and time resolution. We observed that the exponential EC decay is modulated with a period $T = 7.11(11)$s, in accordance with a modulation period $T = 7.12(11)$ s as obtained from simultaneous observations with a capacitive pick-up, employed also in the previous experiments.
