Search for collective behavior in very small and in large systems / Padula, Sandra S (SPRACE ; Sao Paulo, IFT ; Sao Paulo State U.) /CMS Collaboration
Signs of collectivity were initially seen in AuAu collisions at RHIC through measurements of two-particle long-range correlations in (pseudorapidity) $\Delta \eta$, within small (azimuthal) $\Delta \phi$ angles. In 2010 a similar ridge-like behavior was observed in high multiplicity pp collisions at 7 TeV at the LHC by CMS, extended afterwards also to pPb and PbPb collisions. [...]

Measurements of inclusive and differential Higgs boson production cross sections at $ \sqrt{s} = $ 13.6 TeV in the $ \mathrm{H}\to\gamma\gamma $ decay channel / CMS Collaboration
Inclusive and differential cross sections for Higgs boson production in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13.6 TeV are measured using data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2022, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34.7 fb$ ^{-1} $. Events with the diphoton final state are selected, and the measured inclusive fiducial cross section is $ \sigma_{\text{fid}}= $ 74 $ \pm $ 11 (stat) $ ^{+5}_{-4} $ (syst) fb, in agreement with the standard model prediction of 67.8 $ \pm $ 3.8 fb. Search for jet quenching with dijets from high-multiplicity pPb collisions at $ \sqrt{\smash[b]{s_{_{\mathrm{NN}}}}} = $ 8.16 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The first measurement of the dijet transverse momentum balance $ x_{j} $ in proton-lead (pPb) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of $ \sqrt{\smash[b]{s_{_{\mathrm{NN}}}}} = $ 8.16 TeV is presented. The $ x_{j} $ observable, defined as the ratio of the subleading over leading jet transverse momentum in a dijet pair, is used to search for jet quenching effects. [...]

Search for dark matter production in association with a single top quark in proton-proton collisions at $ \sqrt{s} = $ 13 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search for the production of a single top quark in association with invisible particles is performed using proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC at $ \sqrt{s} = $ 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb$^{-1}$. In this search, a flavor-changing neutral current produces a single top quark or antiquark and an invisible state nonresonantly. [...]

A first search is presented for vector-like leptons (VLLs) decaying into a light long-lived pseudoscalar boson and a standard model $ \tau $ lepton. The pseudoscalar boson is assumed to have a mass of 2 GeV and to decay exclusively into a pair of photons. [...]

Probing Gluon Fluctuations in Nuclei with the First Energy-Dependent Measurement of Incoherent <math display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi></math> Photoproduction in Ultraperipheral PbPb Collisions / CMS Collaboration
Incoherent $ \mathrm{J}/\psi $ photoproduction in heavy ion ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs), in which the photon interacts with localized, fluctuating gluonic hotspots rather than the entire nucleus, provides a unique probe of those fluctuations. This study presents the first measurement of the dependence of this photoproduction yield on the photon-nucleon center-of-mass energy ($ W_{\gamma\mathrm{N}} $), using PbPb UPCs at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. Observation of the charged-particle multiplicity dependence of $ \sigma_{\psi(2\text{S})} /\sigma_{\mathrm{J}/\psi} $ in $p$-Pb collisions at 8.16 TeV / CMS Collaboration
Bound states of charm and anticharm quarks, known as charmonia, have a rich spectroscopic structure that can be used to probe the dynamics of hadron production in high-energy hadron collisions. Here, the cross section ratio of excited $ (\psi(2\text{S})) $ and ground state $ (\mathrm{J}/\psi ) $ vector mesons is measured as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity in proton-lead (pPb ) collisions at a center-of-mass (CM) energy per nucleon pair of 8.16 TeV. The jet axis decorrelation in inclusive jets is studied using lead-lead (PbPb) collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 5.02 TeV. The jet axis decorrelation is defined as the angular difference between two definitions of the jet axis. [...]
