Development of the ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter Readout Electronics for the HL-LHC
/ Gensolen, Fabrice (speaker) (Aix Marseille Univ, CNRS/IN2P3, CPPM, Marseille, France)
To meet new TDAQ buffering requirements and withstand the high expected radiation doses at the high-luminosity LHC, the ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter readout electronics will be upgraded. Developments of low-power preamplifiers and shapers and of a low-power 40 MHz 14-bit ADCs are ongoing. [...]

Production and Integration of the ATLAS Insertable B-Layer
/ ATLAS IBL Collaboration
During the shutdown of the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2013-2014, an additional pixel layer was installed between the existing Pixel detector of the ATLAS experiment and a new, smaller radius beam pipe. The motivation for this new pixel layer, the Insertable B-Layer (IBL), was to maintain or improve the robustness and performance of the ATLAS tracking system, given the higher instantaneous and integrated luminosities realised following the shutdown. [...]

/ Gaioni, L (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; De Canio, F (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Nodari, B (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Manghisoni, M (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Re, V (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Traversi, G (Bergamo U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Barbero, M B (Marseille, CPPM) ; Fougeron, D (Marseille, CPPM) ; Gensolen, F (Marseille, CPPM) ; Godiot, S (Marseille, CPPM) et al.
The RD53 collaboration is developing a large scale pixel front-end chip, which will be a tool to evaluate the performance of 65 nm CMOS technology in view of its application to the readout of the innermost detector layers of ATLAS and CMS at the HL-LHC. Experimental results of the characterization of small prototypes will be discussed in the frame of the design work that is currently leading to the development of the large scale demonstrator chip RD53A to be submitted in early 2017. The FE-I4 pixel readout system-on-chip resubmission for the insertable B-Layer project
/ Zivkovic, V (NIKHEF) ; Schipper, J.D (NIKHEF) ; Garcia-Sciveres, M (LPNL) ; Mekkaoui, A (LPNL) ; Barbero, M (UBONN) ; Darbo, G (INFN) ; Gnani, D (LPNL) ; Hemperek, T (UBONN) ; Menouni, M (CPPM) ; Fougeron, D (CPPM) et al.
The FE-I4 is a new pixel readout integrated circuit designed to meet the requirements of ATLAS experiment upgrades. The first samples of the FE-I4 engineering run (called FE-I4A) delivered promising results in terms of the requested performances. [...]
