1850 - In contrast to t 1840's, t 1850's reflected a preference f bolder styling seen in frock coats w wider lapels & looser cuts. Waistcoats became fancier w bold patterns & metal buttons. In t early part of t decade, gentlemen wore extravagant, heavily starched, assymetrically tied cravats, which subsided later in t decade.
