Lengberg bra pattern

This started out as a keen interest in the late 15th century German garb a couple of years ago, and I have made some tryouts aiming for a dress with the pleated panels in front and back as seen in so many drawings and paintings from the time and region. I have finally finished another bra based on the "longline" bra found in Lengberg Castle in Austria. This one includes the sprang insert, with flat fingerloop braids and needlelace. My work is interpretive, since the original bra no longer has the sprang insert. This bra is entirely handsewn using waxed linen thread. OK, I´m no fan of basting, fitting, re-doing, fitting, basting some more... But this project needs patience and a lot of looking into the details. This Saturday we had our second sewing circle dedicated to fitted underwear. Åsa had gotten a long way and brought her already fitted boob-bags for help with fitting the bodice. I started with cutting out a front and back-piece, roughly shaped after the new toille but in two pieces instead of four. Then I had to mark were to make the cut-outs for the boob-bags. When I first saw this Regency era bodice undergarment from the Victoria and Albert London Collection I for sure thought, that is SO modern! It has a very late 1940s early 50s look.
