My first Thanksgiving in the United States was when I was 11-years-old. It was a Lebanese-inspired spread complete with hummus, tabbouleh, grape leaves and hashweh — an Arabic stuffing made with ground beef and onions served alone or inside the turkey.

Mary Markarian on Instagram: "LEBANESE RICE WITH BEEF 🇱🇧 Recipe⬇️ Also known as Hashweh rice or what my family always called it, Ghouzi pilav. We usually serve this on holidays but it’s so delicious and easy, that I make it during the week.
INGREDIENTS-
1 lb beef (I’m using American Wagyu but any ground beef or lamb is fine)
1/2 onion minced
2 Tbsp avocado oil or oil of choice
2 cups Basmati rice (rinsed)
4 cups chicken broth
Salt & pepper to taste
1 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp Seven Spice or baharat
1/4 cup pine nuts
1 package roasted & peeled chestnuts @tazah
Optional nuts can include, almond slivers, cashews, or shelled pistachios.
DIRECTIONS-
