Physical Therapy For Infants on Instagram: "Positioning your baby over your leg encourages them to push up onto their hands and knees. This is my favorite pre-crawling activity!

Notice how this little guy keeps popping his knees under his hips?

As your baby is learning how much weight to bear through their arms, they may fall into their face the first few times… so practice this on a soft surface. They’ll quickly learn how to keep from falling forward.

P.S. Who noticed how his mom was stacking simple toys to make them more interesting?? This is something we talk a lot about in play group, and I love seeing you all thinking outside the box!

Crawling engages your infant’s entire body 👶🏼 Therefore it requires a great deal of strength, coordination, balance & neurological maturity 🤩

The “cross crawl” pattern improves “communication” between both hemispheres of the brain - since opposite legs and arms move at the same time - the left & right brain operates in unison - both building & strengthening connections 🧠

This cross-lateral pattern of movement stimulates more complex brain and nervous system development and therefore is very important for integration of certain primitive reflexes 👶🏼

Try these 7 tips to prepare your baby for the all important cross crawling developmental milestone 👶🏽 🧠
