Common Character Count in Strings in JavaScript

We are required to write a JavaScript function that takes in two strings, let us say str1 and str2.

The function should count the number of common characters that exist in the strings.

For example −

const str1 = 'aabbcc';
const str2 = 'adcaa';

Then the output should be 3

   str1 = str1.split('');

   str1.forEach(e => {

         str2.splice(str2.indexOf(e), 1);

   });
   return count;
