Serbocroatian language

I want to write a serbocroatian name in the wikidata for a singer. How can I add the new language (either cirillica or simlpe letters)? MZ/X (talk) 14:25, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

@MZ/X: Use labelLister or Special:SetLabel.

Gracias. Saludos. Mdelt.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mdelt (talk • contribs) at 10:50‎, 31 December 2022 (UTC).

Possible @Olea: might know what's going on here ... three statements with different dates for the same value in Q97644385#P1435. --Tagishsimon (talk) 15:35, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Tagishsimon. —Ismael Olea (talk) 10:09, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

cirrussearch-too-busy-error

Consistently getting "cirrussearch-too-busy-error" at the moment, after about 30 something requests. Running a script which uses cirrussearch to gather statistics for reports. It respects maxlag, and uses aiohttp. Even if I reduce the number of requests that can be done in parallel from 4 to 1, I get this error. What's going on? Infrastruktur (talk) 19:37, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

@Infrastruktur: Let's move this conversation to WDQS and Search. -Mohammed Sadat (WMDE) (talk) 12:33, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

How to sync the wikidata infobox of a Commons category with a Wikidata Item that has a slightly different name

Eventhough I have read through the Commons:Help page Commons:Wikidata infobox, and done what they say for connecting commons categories to items in Wikidata, I wasn't successful connecting the infobox template of this category (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Kalkhoff_bicycles) to the corresponding item in Wikidata (Kalkhoff (Q1722364) ). I think that the problem is that both category and item have slightly different names. Can anyone explain me how to connect them? Thanks in advance Javier Carro (talk) 07:39, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

@Javier Carro: Seems to have been sorted un this edit. afaik, adding a commons sitelink in the 'Multilingual sites' box is all that's required. --Tagishsimon (talk) 15:31, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks! Javier Carro (talk) 17:38, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

language

Where is Croatian language? MickMorton (talk) 15:41, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

@MickMorton: In what sense? WD offers it as a language option with the code hr, and has 1,832,027 labels, 7,903,104 descriptions and 207,737 aliases, as at a few days ago. iirc, one needs to set Croatian as your default language if you want a Croatian UI, or else add a babel box to your user page to see Croatian in the label/description/alias block on an item or property. --Tagishsimon (talk) 15:49, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
Not easy. Thank you. How can I ad statement "Picture" to upload it. MickMorton (talk) 16:35, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
@MickMorton: Unsure what the ask here is. Images get loaded onto Commons, added to WD items using image (P18), if that helps. --Tagishsimon (talk) 17:44, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Fixes for deprecated language codes

See MediaWiki_talk:Gadget-SiteIdToInterwiki.js#Fixes for deprecated language codes, Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard. --122.100.88.32 07:13, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

That pesky # in identifiers

New property P11482 sometimes has as a value an identifier that includes the # symbol. These links are not working correctly. I know that there is a way to get them to work, so would someone please fix things so that URLs such as https://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/incorruptible#incorruptible__3 actually go to the correct place? There are two examples of identifiers containing the # on the property page: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P11482. AdamSeattle (talk) 03:42, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

And that pesky + in identifiers too

The links for identifiers for property Government of Canada Core Subject Thesaurus ID (P9400) and Thésaurus des sujets de base du gouvernement du Canada ID (P9401) that have a + symbol in them are also not working. Can someone fix those too? For example, this URL works when entered in a browser, but doesn't work from the link in aviation accident (Q744913): https://canada.multites.net/cst/default.asp?lang=ENG&searchString=Aircraft+accidents&op=DISPTERM AdamSeattle (talk) 23:45, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

This one is easy: just use a space instead. + is the encoding of space in URL parameters, and parameters have to be decoded in Wikidata. (You’ll also have to adjust the constraints, my edit caused a constraint violation.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 00:30, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you! I adjusted the regex and it works now!! AdamSeattle (talk) 05:43, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
I spoke too soon. While replacing the + with a blank space works just fine for the English language property, it is not working for the French. For example, this URL works when put into a Web browser: https://canada.multites.net/tsb/default.asp?op=DISPTERM&searchString=Fran%E7ais+langue+seconde&lang=FRA. But if I change the identifier in French as a second language (Q3083222) from Fran%E7ais+langue+seconde to Fran%E7ais langue seconde it still does not work. If I replace %E7 with the cedilla (ç), https://canada.multites.net/tsb/default.asp?op=DISPTERM&searchString=Français+langue+seconde&lang=FRA that URL fails to work too. So I don't know what to do to make this work with words that have diacritics. Removing the + for words that don't have any diacritics works just fine, just like the English. Missing Countries

After running this query the following countries are missing: Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Belgium, Spain, Gabon, Malayisa, Suriname, French Guiana, Panama

SELECT ?countryLabel WHERE {

 ?country wdt:P31 wd:Q6256. # countries
 SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "en,de". }

}

Am I doing something wrong? Bauertauebchen (talk) 09:31, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

@Bauertauebchen: You're using the wdt:P31 predicate, which returns only truthy or BestRank statements. I suspect on those items, another P31 statement has been set to Preferred rank, and so the Q6256 will not be returned by wdt:P31. Try the property path p:P31/ps:P31 instead - ?country p:P31/ps:P31 wd:Q6256. # countries. Thank you so much! That perfectly solved the problem! Bauertauebchen (talk) 14:21, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

User contributions search is broken

Hello, I'm trying to find all my contributions between 2019-02-11 and 2019-02-13. So I only entered my username and those two criterias https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AContributions&target=Ayack&namespace=all&tagfilter=&start=2019-02-11&end=2019-02-13&limit=50 But in the results, I've all my contributions in Wikidata namespace without any filter on date. To get what I want, I need to select one specific namespace, (Main) for example: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AContributions&target=Ayack&namespace=0&tagfilter=&start=2019-02-11&end=2019-02-13&limit=50 The "all" option in namespace field is not working. @ Dev team: any updates, please? Ayack (talk) 13:05, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Linking from identifying property to the referenced website

The property Rugby League Record Keepers Club player ID (P11428) doesn't link through to the website it references. See Chris Ashton (Q127618) for an example where other properties e.g. It's Rugby player ID (P3769) and Rugby League Project player ID (P4464) give you a direct clickable link to the subject's article on the reference site. Nthep (talk) 16:10, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

@Nthep: Chris Ashton (Q127618) works for me after purging. Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 09:23, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
@Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) Thanks - never occurred to me that a purge would be needed for a page I'd visited previously. Nthep (talk) 16:20, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Podbean show ID formatter URL

Podbean show ID (P9011) is malfunctioning because of its former formatter URL https://www.podbean.com/podcast-detail/$1, I tried to change both the formatter URL and match URL pattern to the new version but the ID links don't change. See discussion. Guttitto (talk) 20:26, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

@Guttitto the formatter URLs are cached and won't update on items until after 24h have passed - and then the items may still need to be purged to show up. Are you still seeing the problems? Andrew Gray (talk) 16:17, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. It seems to be fixed now. –guttitto(talk · contribs) 16:20, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
@Guttitto sounds good - sorry for the confusion, the lag isn't documented very well and I think it always catches people out! I'll run a script to purge all the items using it just now, and that will catch any that haven't got updated yet. Andrew Gray (talk) 17:16, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
