Discussion
[edit]- Support question is if a query is a good pattern... - Salgo60 (talk) 07:22, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support external identifier. John Samuel (talk) 09:28, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- I don't agree with this as currently proposed. That's not an identifier, it's just part of the query string parameters and something like that is not very stable - if they ever change their URLs, it would likely require updating all of the statements too. The "query" parameter seems to be required but otherwise can contain anything (e.g. https://ordnet.dk/ddo/ordbog?query=_&select=spise,2) so there is no reason to include that, there can be multiple valid "select" parameters for the same entry (e.g. 0 and nul,2 both point to the same entry) and clicking on links within the entry appears to switch to URLs with actual IDs in them, e.g. https://ordnet.dk/ddo/ordbog?query=_&entry_id=11049250. - Nikki (talk) 04:28, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Nikki:I agree this is not ideal. I changed to use the entry_id parameter instead. Unfortunately it does not work if we remove the query. I am willing to keep the lexemes updated if they ever improve their system (I have asked them to expose an external identifier some months ago, but they have failed to do so until now). Can you accept it as it is now? The query parameter is used to display some stuff on the page, so I prefer keeping that the same as the lemma of our lexeme.--So9q (talk) 05:52, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- @ArthurPSmith, Nikki, Salgo60:I switched to only numeric id and generic query parameter. It breaks the site functionality a little but it will make it a lot easier for people to manually add identifiers.--So9q (talk) 21:37, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
