User talk:Andrew Dalby
Welcome to Wikidata, Andrew Dalby!
Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!
Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:
- Introduction – An introduction to the project.
- Wikidata tours – Interactive tutorials to show you how Wikidata works.
- Community portal – The portal for community members.
- User options – including the 'Babel' extension, to set your language preferences.
- Contents – The main help page for editing and using the site.
- Project chat – Discussions about the project.
- Tools – A collection of user-developed tools to allow for easier completion of some tasks.
Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask on Project chat. If you want to try out editing, you can use the sandbox to try. Once again, welcome, and I hope you quickly feel comfortable here, and become an active editor for Wikidata.
Best regards! --Stryn (talk) 10:01, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Babel
[edit]Babel lets you view and edit more than one language on Wikidata. Just add e.g. {{#babel:de-N|en-3|es-1|fr-2|nl-3|it-4|da-0}} to your user page. With the same language codes you can add links to your userpage on Wikipedia e.g. de:User:User123. --Tobias1984 (talk) 13:21, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
Merge gadget
[edit]Please use the merge gadget when you find two items about the same subject. We don't delete duplicates anymore, with the gadget you can create redirects. :) You can enable it in your preferences. You can find it under "More" after enabling. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 15:49, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Desserts
[edit]Please do not work in areas you apparently know little. Better ask advice from others. Only based on "sound resemblance" you merged wrong items around qatayef (a solid dough dessert) with kadaif noodles, strings of noodle with which several different desserts are made. I am too tired to correct the mess. Please... --E4024 (talk) 18:50, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, thanks for your message, I was realising almost before I'd finished. I'll revert myself. It'll be good practice ... Andrew Dalby (talk) 20:01, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Actually, when you grasp how to do it, it's very quick. I hope the result is satisfactory: tell me if you notice any error. Sorry to have worried you Andrew Dalby (talk) 20:18, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
