The second leg of the Holiday 2016 Pok�mon GO event has begun. In this event, which runs until January 8th, the Starter Pok�mon of Kanto and their evolutions will be more common to find. In addition to this, Lure Modules will now last 60 minutes rather than 30 minutes for the duration of the event.
Finally, continuing on from the special boxes over Christmas, three special Boxes can be purchased with coins that give a bundle of items

A few brand new challenges have begun on Pok�mon Shuffle and Pok�mon Shuffle Mobile.
First up is a stage for Tornadus Therian Forme. This stage runs until January 10th 2017
Next, a repeat of the White Kyurem stage has begun and will run until January 10th 2017
Finally, aa repeat of the Daily Winking Pok�mon will be running until January 3rd 2017. Today is Charmander, tomorrow is Squirtle, Thursday is Bulbasaur, Friday is Jigglypuff and Monday is Clefairy

A new event has been revealed for Pok�mon GO. From December 25th to January 3rd, there will be a higher chance of Pok�mon from Johto appearing as Eggs from Pok� Stops. Festive Pikachu will now also run until January 3rd rather than December 29th. In addition to this, you're guaranteed one incubator. In addition to this, from December 30th through January 8th, the Kanto starters will have a higher chance of appearing and Lure Modules will last 60 minutes.

Battles for the next Battle Competition have begun. This is the Battle of Alola competition. This competition is a Single Battle competition and runs unique rules. These rules allow for you to use all Pok�mon currently available in Pok�mon Sun & Moon, including Solgaleo, Lunala, Magearna and Ash-Greninja, but you can only use one Special Pok�mon in your team like Solgaleo & Lunala. No items are allowed. Battles run from December 16th through December 18th.

A new feature that came to iOS 10 was the ability to have stickers for iMessage, and The Pok�mon Company is releasing even more stickers. With this, several companies including Nintendo have put out special apps which add stickers and The Pok�mon Company has joined in with this. This new set is Pok�mon Chat Pals and features a variety of Alola Pok�mon. The Stickers apps cost �1.49/$1.99/�1.99

Pokk�n Tournament
The latest Pokk�n Tournament Arcade event has begun. This event is a multiple facet event and runs from today until December 25th with a New Years expansion from December 26th to January 9th. First, Empoleon is now available to all Pokk�n Tournament arcade players. Next, a special Event Mission Panel has begun with a variety of missions which, once completed, give the Latios & Yveltal Support Pok�mon set, as well as a variety of festive titles and outfits.
Until December 25th, all experience gained in the game will be multiplied by 1.2 for quicker level ups
As part of the random Special Bonuses after matches, a lot of new items of clothing and titles have become available, including Santa costumes for sale on the Pokk�n Tournament Web Interface.
Finally, a new variant of the Old Ferrum Town (Winter) Stage has begun. This replaces Old Ferrum Town (Winter) with a variant featuring a sleigh and some Stantler

The free piece of Nintendo 3DS software, Nintendo Badge Arcade, had its weekly update in Japan. This week it has once again introduced multiple panels of badges of Pok�mon to earn. These panels include various more new Pok�mon to the ones previously obtainable. We're currently cataloguing all of these badges and will update our Nintendo Badge Arcade section shortly

Pok�mon the Movie 2017 - World Premiere
As an annual tradition each December, it has been announced that the world premiere of the upcoming movie due for release in Japan in July 2017 will air on the Japanese variety show Oha Suta at 07:05 JST tomorrow. This will provide the first information and footage of the movie. We'll provide the details as soon as they come so keep checking back
Edit @ 22:26: The episode of Oha Suta has aired and has revealed the movie. It is called Pok�mon: I Choose You (ポケットモンスター キミにきめた！ ). In the trailer, it showcased various landscapes and Pallet Town, and showed Ash putting on his hat, followed by Pikachu. The poster features Ash & Pikachu in a field with Ho-Oh flying over. It will release on July 15th 2017. We hope to have an official upload of the trailer soon so keep checking back

Pok�mon Sun & Moon - Global Mission
The first Pok�mon Sun & Moon Global Mission is now over on Pok�monm Sun & Moon. This Global Mission was to have all players catch 100 million Pok�mon. Unfortunately, the mission is counted as a failure as only 16,423,231 Pok�mon were caught and catalogued at that time. As such, the failure reward of 100FC, or 200FC if the game is registered on the Global Link is now available. On this note, it was also said that the targets will be altered based on this mission. The next mission has also been announced. This mission has you look for Pok�mon using Island Scan. It will run from December 27th 2016

A few brand new challenges have begun on Pok�mon Shuffle and Pok�mon Shuffle Mobile.
First, there is a once a day chance to get a special Holiday Delibird with the chance of capture increasing each day. This runs until December 26th 2016
Next, a new Pok�mon Safari has begun. This Safari contains Lillipup, Herdier, Stoutland, Pikachu (Holiday), Vanillite (Holiday), Snover (Holiday) and Cubchoo (Holiday). It runs until December 26th 2016
Next, a stage has begun for Black Kyurem. It runs until December 27th 2016
Finally, the Reshiram stage has begun a repeat run until December 27th 2016

If you were one of the lucky players worldwide who ranked in the Mega Abomasnow competitive stage over the past week, then the Abomasite is now available to be received. The Attack Power, Mega Speedup and Raise Max Level for the higher ranked players will also be obtained. If you didn't qualify, then you can redeem an Attack Power. To get these items, simply Check In between now and September 9th 2016 at 06:00 UTC and you will receive the item.

The first huge update to Pok�mon GO has been announced. This confirms that the Johto Pok�mon are to come to Pok�mon GO from today. Trainers around the world will have the opportunity to add Togepi, Pichu and select Pok�mon originally discovered in the Pok�mon Gold and Pok�mon Silver video games to their Pok�mon GO Pok�dex through EEggs at Pok� Stops. In addition to that, starting from today to December 29th, a special Pikachu wearing a festive hat will be findable for players. The press release implies that more Pok�mon will be added as we go through early 2017

12th January - Regional in Dreamhack Leipzig in Germany
4th & 5th of March a Regional will be held in Sheffield, the Ponds Forge International
18th & 19th of March there will be a Regional in Malmo Seden, in the Amiralen Malmo
22nd & 23rd of April there's a Special Competition at the CCC Lyon
On June 3rd/4th of June there will be a Regional at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham, United Kingdom
On June 24th & 25th there will be a Special Event in Casa De Campo in Madrid, Spain
Finally, on July 29th/30th, there will be a Regional at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool, UK

A special distribution has been announced to be in this month's issue of CoroCoro. To continue the recent addition of Rockruff as the mascot of the magazine, the special distribution is to give you special Rockruff enhancement tools. The next update to Pok�mon GO has been announced. This update adds a variety of usability features. First, you will be able to transfer multiple Pok�mon at once. Next, type icons are added to Gyms. Next, you can see the total candy amount for Pok�mon in the Buddy screen and finally the Pok�mon info screen now lists the distance you have walked. This patch is rolling out now so will be available in the next few days.

The Mythical Pok�mon Magearna is now available for European & Australian Pok�mon Sun & Moon players through a QR Code released at the end of the movie Volcanion & The Mechanical Marvel on the Pok�mon TV app. To get it, simply scan the QR code provided into the QR Scanner in the game and it will allow for you to go to Hau'oli City's Mall to collect Magearna after becoming the Champion in the game. This can only be scanned once per game. It is Level 50 and comes with a Bottle Cap attached. This code does not expire.

Pok�mon Sun & Moon - Battle Competition
The next Battle Competition has been announced. This is the Battle of Alola competition. This competition is a Single Battle competition and runs unique rules. These rules allow for you to use all Pok�mon currently available in Pok�mon Sun & Moon, including Solgaleo, Lunala, Magearna and Ash-Greninja, but you can only use one Special Pok�mon in your team like Solgaleo & Lunala. No items are allowed. Registration is live now in Japan and will be in the west soon and will be open until December 15th 23:59 UTC and battles will run from December 16th through December 18th.
All entrants get 50BP

Pok�mon Sun & Moon - Battle Spot Glitch
A new note has been put out regarding a glitch on Battle Spot. When both sides Pok�mon are knocked out causing both parties to have no Pok�mon through the use of Rough Skin, Aftermath, Liquid Ooze, Iron Barbs, Innards Out and Rocky Helmet, the trainer whose ability caused the opponent Pok�mon to get Knocked Out would be determined as the loser. However, there is currently an issue on Battle Spot where Rocky Helmet causing the knock out results in the trainer with the Pok�mon holding Rocky Helmet to be determined the winner. Game Freak are currently investigating this issue, along with the issue with Memento & Parting Shot and hope to issue a fix soon

The Mythical Pok�mon Magearna is now available for North American Pok�mon Sun & Moon players through a QR Code released on the official website. Pok�mon Sun & Moon - Coverage Day 15
The games have been out almost 2 weeks now and our coverage is starting to wind to a close. As usual, I'll be posting the main focal points here, while more in-depth details go on the discovery thread on the forums (including some details I won't post here). If you want to remain unspoiled, do not visit the Sun/Moon section until you have your game. Don't worry as blatant spoilers will NOT be on the home page. As the coverage is winding down, if there are any elements of the game that you wish me to cover, be sure to let me know

Pok�mon XYORAS - Arceus Event
For those of you in Europe, Australia & North America, a second chance event for Arceus has gone live in both North America and Europe on XY & ORAS. In North America, this is through the code ARCEUS20 and in Europe it's through the code ARCEUS2016 and these codes can be redeemed until December 31st 2016. It won't work if you obtained Arceus during the events held around the world earlier this year.

Nintendo Badge Arcade
The free piece of Nintendo 3DS software, Nintendo Badge Arcade, had its weekly update in Japan. This week it has once again introduced multiple panels of badges of Pok�mon to earn. These panels include various more new Pok�mon to the ones previously obtainable. We're currently cataloguing all of these badges and will update our Nintendo Badge Arcade section shortly

Pokk�n Tournament
Today a special newspost for Pokk�n Tournament was release and within this, a brand new character was revealed which will be available to play in the arcade game. This Pok�mon is Empoleon,. It goes live in Japanese arcades on December 15th 2016. We hope to provide a trailer shortly

As we have done since 2003, this year I have created an Advent Calendar. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, an Advent Calendar is essentially a countdown until Christmas. Every day, a new puzzle and a variety of new downloads for you to enjoy. As time goes on, the puzzles get harder and the downloads get more plentiful, so be sure to check back every day.
