Should voters reward Obama for prowess, or blame him for the economy's ongoing challenges? And how do the voters feel about the Republican alternatives? Join a panel of students and experts for a discussion about the economy and its impact on the presidential race.     Responsibilities include conducting research, drafting correspondence, answering constituent phone calls, helping the staff with advance work for the Senator's visits, and administrative support. Schedules and sessions are flexible and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Internships require a commitment of at least 12 hours a week.

    Obama For America Summer Internship
    Our spring internship is an opportunity for students and graduates to gain hands-on experience with a United States presidential campaign and strengthen their skills as future leaders. Spring interns with Obama For America will learn firsthand about the grassroots efforts that drive our campaign and how what we do here at headquarters facilitates our actions in the states. The application deadline is March 1st, 2012. Interviews and selections will take place shortly after the deadline. Applicants will be informed no later than April 15th, 2012. Our program will run from May 29, 2012 to August 17, 2012. We have several departments on the campaign and internships will be available in each of them.     U.S. Department of State Undergraduate Student Internships


    How far could a student internship at the U.S. Department of State take you? Just for starters, it would give you a greatly coveted inside look into Foreign Service, the positions and the responsibilities that are possible. Think of it as test-driving a career before you decide what you're going to do with your life. Most of all, you feel good about doing something worthwhile for your nation. At the U.S. Department of State, we like to say that we represent America to the world. For internship program details such as duties of an intern, participating offices and bureaus, types of internships, salary/benefit/housing information, please download the Student Internship Information Brochure at http://careers.state.gov/docs/4.0_Student_Intern_brochure.pdf. You must be a student accepted for enrollment, or are enrolled as a degree-seeking student in an accredited college or university. Or also a full- or part-time continuing college or university junior, or graduate student (including graduating seniors intending to go on to graduate school). An applicant is considered a junior if he/she will have completed all sophomore credits (60 or more hours or 90 quarter hours) by the time the internships begins and will be entering at least the junior year immediately upon completion of the internship. All applications are submitted online through the "Gateway to State" system, which also screens applications to make sure that they are complete, and that applicants meet the eligibility criteria.     Scheyer Family Scholarship for Summer Interns
    The Scheyer Family Scholarship for Summer Interns, established in December of 2007, will provide an award of $2,500 to two students enrolled in approved summer internships. Preference will be given to sophomores, juniors or seniors with demonstrated financial need. Student recipients must have a major in the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts & Sciences and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students must be in good academic standing and must have a graduation date between December 2012 and May 2015. Students must have an internship prior to applying for this scholarship.     InterAction The NGO Aid Map Fellowship


    NGO Aid Map is an InterAction initiative focused on collecting information on NGOs' work at the project level and making it accessible to donors, NGOs, businesses, governments and the public through an online, interactive mapping tool. In order to raise awareness of NGO Aid Map, InterAction will sponsor a communications fellowship to develop a communications strategy for NGO Aid Map and create new ways for us to bring it to a broader audience. The Fellow will develop a comprehensive, long-term communications strategy for NGO Aid Map. The strategy should incorporate innovative ideas and social media to promote NGO Aid Map to NGOs, the U.S. government, donors and the American public; showcase member projects; and build a recognizable brand for NGO Aid Map that emphasizes transparency and accountability. The Fellow will have a background in communications and/or public relations, and ideally an interest in international development and humanitarian issues in general. The fellowship will run from May-July 2012.     Millennial Youth Professionals Initiative (MyPi) Multiple Positions Available


    The Millennial Youth Professionals Initiative, or MyPi, is a non-profit that takes inner-city youth on engaging field trips to cool workplaces to show them what lies beyond the horizons of a high school education and encourage an entrepreneurial spirit. As of this fall, MyPi received its 501(c)3 status and established an office in downtown LA. I want to organically build the structure of this fledgling NGO and assign positions in the vein of: community engagement, program development, event planning, measuring results and evaluation, fundraising, grant-writing, and online media management. These will be unpaid positions, but if we do our job right, MyPi intends to promote volunteers to full-time staff as our organization grows. We have already embarked on several programs to local businesses such as TOMS shoes, Electronic Arts and SpaceX, and would love involvement directly coordinating these field trips as well.     Relief International (RI) Internship
    Relief International (RI) is a leading global change organization and home to teams of humanitarian activist-professionals committed to transforming adversity into renewal for the worlds most vulnerable populations. By partnering with beneficiaries and communities on the front-lines, RI innovatively bridges the gap between immediate relief and long-term community development. We have internship opportunities available year-round to currently enrolled college students pursuing careers in the non- profit world, Finance, IT, Human Resources, Procurement/ Operations, Communications, and other related fields. Our internship program is designed to provide students with an educational experience that complements their academic studies and provides an opportunity to observe and participate in the daily work and operation of the professional and non- profit world.     USC Dream Dollars Program


    The Dream Dollars Program is a unique scholarship program for undergraduates. The USC Dream Dollars Program provides stipends for USC students who receive internships with a non-profit or government organization. This program will support students hoping to gain work experience from an unpaid internship. Students will be selected through an application and interview process. All internships must be a minimum of six weeks during the summer. The program provides a stipend of $1,200 for each student. Students must have an internship prior to applying for this scholarship.
