Introduction:
Praise focuses on the efficacy of what is written and not what is happening
– Psa. 56:4/10
Psalms 56:4, 10 (KJV) In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear
what flesh can do unto me. In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.
This is why we do not just to praise God for what has happened, but we are to
praise God for things to happen – Luk. 17:17-19/ Psa. 67:5-7.
Luke 17:17-19 (KJV) And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the
nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said
unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
Psalms 67:5-7 (KJV) Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

Praise Provokes Divine Interventions
Fearful praise subdues our enemies – Mat. 21:9-16/ Psa. 8:2
Matthew 21:9-16 (KJV) And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried,
saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord;
Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved,
saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the
temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold
doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye
have made it a den of thieves. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he
healed them. And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did,
and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were
sore displeased, And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them,
Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected
praise?
Psalms 8:2 (KJV) Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because
of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
To experience ‘strange’ favour, we must give God ‘strange’ dimension of praise
– 2 Sam. 6:14/ Psa. 30:5-7
2 Samuel 6:14 (KJV) And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was
girded with a linen ephod.
Psalms 30:5-7 (KJV) For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may
endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and
I was troubled.
To experience fearful blessing, we must give God fearful praise – Psa. 67:5-7
Psalms 67:5-7 (KJV) Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then
shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless
us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
Personal praise is gateway to personal blessings – Psa. 34:1/ 1 Chr. 29:3-12
Psalms 34:1 (KJV) I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
1 Chronicles 29:3-12 (KJV) Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I
have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God,
over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, Even three thousand talents of gold,
of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the
houses withal: The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner
of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service
this day unto the LORD? Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the
captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly, And
gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams,
and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred
thousand talents of iron. And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the
treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. Then the people
rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the
LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. Wherefore David blessed the LORD
before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for
ever and ever. Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory,
and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O
LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou
reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great,
and to give strength unto all.
Returns on our seeds sown, which includes spiritual seeds such as, soul winning
and praying kingdom advancement prayers delivers through praise – Heb. 13:15/
Pro. 12:14/ Pro. 18:20
Hebrews 13:15 (KJV) By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that
is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
Proverbs 18:20 (KJV) A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the
increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Praise Provokes Supernatural Favour
Esther put on her royal apparel which symbolizes the garment of praise and
obtained favour as the king said to her to ask anything to the half of the kingdom
and shall be given her – Est. 5:1-3/ Isa. 61:3/ Psa. 100:4 Esther 5:1-3 (KJV) Now it came to
pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of
the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the
royal house, over against the gate of the house. And it was so, when the king saw Esther the
queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to
Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of
the sceptre. Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy
request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.
Isaiah 61:3 (KJV) To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for
ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they
might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Herodias’s daughter danced her way into favour with king Herod as the king vowed
to give her whatever she asked even to the half of the kingdom – Mak. 6:21-23 Mark
6:21-23 (KJV) And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a
supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee; And when the daughter of the
said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king
said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. And he sware
unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
Nothing flies like favour as we saw in the life of Joseph
Favour turned him to the heir of Potiphar’s family – Gen. 39: 1-5
Genesis 39:1-5 (KJV) And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of
Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites,
which had brought him down thither. And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a
prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw
that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his
house, and all that he had he put into his hand. And it came to pass from the time that he
had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the
Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in
the house, and in the field.
Favour made him an official of the prison where he was an inmate – Gen. 39:21-
22
Genesis 39:21-22 (KJV) But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave
him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison
committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever
they did there, he was the doer of it.
The favour of God ultimately made him the prime minister of Egypt
– Gen. 41: 15-17/37-40
Genesis 41:15-17, 37-40 (KJV) And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and
there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand
a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall
give Pharaoh an answer of peace. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I
stood upon the bank of the river: And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the
eyes of all his servants. And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this
is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God
hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over
my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will
I be greater than thou.

Praise Provokes Vengeance in the Camp of our Enemies
More often than not, until vengeance shows up the enemy never gives up – Isa.
61:2
Isaiah 61:2 (KJV) To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of
our God; to comfort all that mourn;
High praises of the redeemed invokes vengeance in the camp of the enemy
– Psa. 149:6-7
Psalms 149:6-7 (KJV) Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in
their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;
David was praising the Lord with all his might and Micah his wife despised him; she
was smitten with barrenness until the day of her death – 2 Sam. 6:14-16/20-23
2 Samuel 6:14-16, 20-23 (KJV) And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David
was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the
LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. And as the ark of the LORD came into
the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping
and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. Then David returned to bless
his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious
was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his
servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! And David said unto
Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to
appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the
maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour. Therefore Michal the
daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
In most cases, until vengeance is unleashed, God’s agenda for our lives as believers
may never see the light of day – Isa. 63:4/ Zeph. 3:17-20
Isaiah 63:4 (KJV) For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is
come.
Zephaniah 3:17-20 (KJV) The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will
rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the
reproach of it was a burden.
Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather
her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been
put to shame.
At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name
and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes,
saith the LORD.
Praise is one way to provoke the God of vengeance to manifest Himself – Psa. 94:1-
5
Psalms 94:1-5 (KJV) O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom
vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
How long shall they utter and speak hard things? And all the workers of iniquity boast
themselves?
They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.

Praise Releases Fresh Oil upon Believers
Praise is a covenant platform for encounter with fresh oil – Psa. 92:1-2/10-12
Psalms 92:1-2, 10-12 (KJV) It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises
unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy
faithfulness every night, But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be
anointed with fresh oil. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall
hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. The righteous shall flourish like the palm
tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Fresh oil here connotes the fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit – Isa. 61:3/ Psa. 45:6-7
Psalms 45:6-7 (KJV) Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a
right sceptre.Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God,
hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
But what is in the Anointing Oil?
The power of God that destroys yokes – Isa. 10:27/ Psa. 92:10-11
Isaiah 10:27 (KJV) And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away
from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because
of the anointing.
Psalms 92:10-11 (KJV) But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be
anointed with fresh oil. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall
hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
The walls of Jericho came down at the shout of praise – Josh. 6:15-20/ Psa. 47:1-7
Joshua 6:15-20 (KJV) And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the
dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that
day they compassed the city seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the
priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given
you the city. And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD:
only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid
the messengers that we sent. And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing,
lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of
Israel a curse, and trouble it. But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are
consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD. So the people
shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people
heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell
down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they
took the city.
Psalms 47:1-7 (KJV) O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of
triumph.
For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
God stepped in by praise and took over the battle of Judah – 2 Chr. 20:17-24
2 Chronicles 20:17-24 (KJV) Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still,
and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed;
to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. And Jehoshaphat bowed his
head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the
LORD, worshipping the LORD. And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the
children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they
went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem;
Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye
prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and
that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise
the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the
LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were
come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up
against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had
made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. And when Judah
came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold,
they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
Jesus is Lord!
