How are you tracking with your New Years resolutions and goals for 2014?

As you well know, it is so easy in this industry to get caught focusing on the next client, the next meeting, the next result, that often we forget to take some time to ensure we are achieving the goals and resolutions we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year. Many of us invest time into setting goals and plans for the year that we hope will make ourselves, our businesses and families the very best they can be, only to fall into the trap of only actioning whatever is in front of us on a daily basis, losing sight of the grand plan we set to achieve long term sustainable success. So how are you going with your plans? If you are on track, great, keep going, if not, its not too late to get back on track. You may just need to readjust your targets, breaking them down into smaller achievable pieces with shorter term milestones, but most importantly, you need to tell someone what your goals are so you feel accountable and are more inclined to act on them. Whilst it is a little nerve racking broadcasting your goals to others, it is certainly motivating and I find it keeps me on track and committed to achieving them. So, heres a few of my goals I'd like to share with you in order for you to make me accountable: Family Relocate my family to Melbourne Family holiday to Byron Bay in October Play outside with my children for 3 hours minimum per week to encourage an active lifestyle Work Grow my pipeline by 5% every month Add 5 quality clients to my portfolio each month Undertake additional training on SMSF lending Health & Leisure Train for a fitness photo shoot Write a blog/article on healthy living and weight training aimed at career women Undertake a wine appreciation course Personal Development Minimum of 5 face to face meetings with people of inspiration - who can I learn from? Present at an industry event Have 2 articles/editorials published in an industry magazine/newsletter Bucket List Run the NY marathon with my husband Take a family drive holiday through the small towns of Italy Take my children to Disneyland

As you can see Ive broken my goals into five categories that I find are important areas of your life it isnt all business, and unfortunately its not all leisure either. Family, Work, Health & Leisure, Personal Development and a Bucket List are all important areas that need attention. Make sure you dream big with your long term goals as these often act as a subconscious guide leading you towards achieving them, you may just find you achieve them quicker than you first thought once you document them and revisit them regularly. Have someone review your goals with you quarterly to ensure you remain on track, appoint a trusted friend/loved one who will give you an honest appraisal.
