A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.

Having set an exceedingly high standard of excellence for itself, The Bear spends its third season simmering, stewing, and giving off an aroma that whets the appetite.

David Bianculli NPR It's the best food-oriented TV series since Julia Child's "The French Chef." And Christopher Storer and his other writers and directors present montages of food preparation that are beautiful, exotic and mesmerizing all at once. Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic The Bear is still extraordinarily artful... But the show also appears less interested in telling a story than in offering an immersive trip for viewers into the recesses and faulty wiring of Carmy’s brain. Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Pat Brown Slant Magazine In its third season, the series dilates the plot, letting mood and character simmer. Rated: 3/4 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Laura Fernández El Pais (Spain) What Christopher Storer and his sister Courtney continue to do with The Bear —whose third season has just landed and is consumed at breakneck speed because it only gets better: the rise is meteoric and unstoppable— is history. [Full review in Spanish] Aug 30, 2024 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked While the tragedy that catalyzes the plot of The Bear has been text since the first season, that tragedy has steadily crept out of the deep background and now lives in the middle of practically every frame, crowding the comedy out in the process. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Randy Meeks Espinof ... A gourmet option among so much fast food. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4/5 Aug 19, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

The R This season is not so brilliant like 1 and 2... But the cinematic quality, the acting, screenplay, photography and all still very very good. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review Knee C This series is a standout for its exceptional production values. The music, character dynamics, and visual appeal are top-notch. Each episode is a well-crafted narrative, exploring complex relationships with nuanced acting and realistic portrayals of human interaction. It's a truly captivating watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Germaine R Series Lost the magic that made the plot and characters interesting. Dull and pretentious. Character studies were a good idea, but pacing was painfully slow. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Samuel R The Bear's third season has its moments, but can't hold the weight of its incredible predecessors with only emotional padding, and abstract shots, leading to a dish that sometimes feels like chewing on shoe leather. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Angel E The third season was a non-event. Boring. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/08/24 Full Review Michael L What was once a ground breaking tv show has entirely failed to be what it once was. Episodes were unwatchable and boring. The bear leans to heavily on manufactured chaos that feels completely forced. There is one good episode this season and it’s “Napkins” and even that episode fails to progress the plot. The bear has always been a little pretentious. And that’s what made it special. It was about the art of making food, and the bear easily made it seem like any food even a Big Mac could be made special. But holy mother of god the pretentious level is through the roof this season. It is now entirely unrealistic and is honestly heresy to the culinary world. Bourdain would be disappointed at the depiction of the art of fine dining depicted in this season. What a shame. No matter what comes next for the bear, this season will forever stain its reputation preventing it from becoming one of the greats. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/08/24 Full Review Read all reviews
