Product Details
Sizes XS-3XL The apron, or pinafore, is one of humanity's oldest garment forms. Whether worn to cover and protect the body or to mark status, garments that covered the front of the torso and lap are seen in Neolithic art and Renaissance paintings. Our Pinafore Dress sewing pattern is both a covering and a garment, with helpful pockets added in. This easy-to-sew, low-calf-length pinafore dress features two patch pockets with pocket bands and wide straps that button in front. A perfect everyday dress that can be worn in any season, it is practical and simple.  Wear over a shirt and leggings for winter, or on its own or with a tank top for summer.  This makes a great lounge dress, work/garden smock, or comfortable dress to wear out and about. The simple form is also a great canvas for embellishments – patchwork, embroidery, applique, or dyeing.  This pattern is available as a Paper pattern and PDF pattern.  Choose the pattern format you want in the drop down menu.  The PDF pattern has instructions and files for copy shop (36” and A0), print at home (A4 and 8.5”x11”). Suggested fabrics:  Light to medium weight fabrics such as linen, flannel, gabardine, twill, lightweight denim Sizing and yardage chart (.pdf) LEARN MORE: Check out our Pinafore Dress sew along on the blog.  This sew along shows you how to adjust length as well as alter the button closure.
