A Zhou dynasty palace. The Zhou era was the final period of feudalism in China, after which the land would become largely unified as an empire under Qin Shi Huangdi. I don't know much else about this building in particular, but recreations of ancient Chinese buildings are hard to come by. Approx 700-400 BC. Artist unknown. This figure is among the earliest Chinese representations of nomadic peoples on the northern frontier. Its identity is indicated by the short sword and belted jacket, a costume designed for an equestrian culture. The figure may have belonged to a larger assemblage. Judging from his posture and the position of his arms, it could have been a foot on the corner of a vessel or a lamp stand. Western Zhou dynasty (11th-8th Century B.C) was the golden age in Chinese bronze vessels development, bronze workshops were one of the most important installment to the Zhou's imperial court. My illustration here is depicting two bronze masters, most likely to be father and son, extracting a bronze couldron(Ding:鼎) from the ceramic molds. I have also draw a simplified diagram of bronze vessel mold casting workflow, please let me know if you have any feedback on this. Thank you!
