White witch moth

Beauty can be found throughout nature. Butterflies and moths are a perfect example. Their delicate wings feature intricate patterns that can dazzle the eye and inspire the imagination.

Thysania Agrippina(White Witch) -Male -Recto -Costa Rica -(9.5 in wingspan).This night flying moth has the largest wingspan of any insect (up to 12 inches). They are found from Mexico to South America. This Recto side can vary from white to a brownish white. This is not the most beautiful moth in the world, but it is the biggest(in wingspan).

This species has the longest wingspan of any moth or butterfly in the world--up to 12 inches (31cm).

Thysania agrippina (White witch) is a species of moth in the Erebidae family. The species has numerous common names, including Birdwing moth, Ghost moth, Great grey witch, and Giant owlet moth. It is the lepidopteran with the biggest wingspan, which typically is reported as being up to 27–28 cm (11–11 in) and one Brazilian specimen had a wingspan of almost 30 cm (12 in). The Atlas moth, however, has a greater wing area.
