I wasn't sure how these shaving cream rain clouds were going to turn out, but they were beautiful! I love any experiment that's easy enough for my kids to do themselves. And I also love when I get to use a rainbow assortment of colours to create something beautiful. So this was a winner! Montessori Child on Instagram: "My 3 year old is really curious about clouds and rain at the moment (since so much of it is bucketing from the sky here in the Adelaide hills!) He asked me how the clouds know when it’s time to rain, since sometimes he sees clouds in the sky on a sunny or dry day. I talked about the way that water droplets in a cloud condense into each other and eventually become too heavy for the cloud to hold, so the cloud releases rain. But who wants just an abstract explanation when you can have a concrete experience?! We used this simple science experiment to symbolise each of those steps. A mesmerising way of watching that process in motion! All you need is a vase or jug (even a large, tall glass would do!), some shaving cream and food colouring.
