Art Teachers loooove to do self portraits with kids. This was a cool twist on the self portrait AND it involves art appreciation AND is much easier to clean up and set up than paint. Perfect! Self Portrait Art Project There are 8 different sunglasses to choose from, making it super fun to personalize for each student. I created idea sheets for hairstyles, ears, lips, and noses. I created one example of how to do the "This summer, I want to..." my example shows "Have a bonfire and see the ocean" then I put a picture of each activity in the sunglasses. What a great way to get to know your students!

In 2008, I developed a self-portrait art lesson to help students express both their inner and outer selves, combining drawing, collage, and typography. I recently updated the project to include techniques like mixing skin tones, understanding facial proportions, and depicting diverse hair textures.
