When they manipulate it, play on it, search things hidden underneath it – their senses are awoken and what they learn while doing so will likely have a bigger imprint on them. Its actually really easy, quick and cheap to make. Learning how to dye rice is a fun and easy tactile craft for kids and can also be used for a rainbow rice sensory bin, dry sensory bottle ingredients or other sensory play / colored rice activities or even preschool art and messy play. We made our color rice with no vinegar, no alcohol hand gel and no acrylic paint / liquid water color paint!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Portion out equal parts rice in 6 different plastic bags (I used one cup each)

Add 1 tsp white vinegar to each bag and add food coloring. Zip bag up and mix until well coated.

Pour out rice onto some parchment paper to dry (takes about 15 minutes) and repeat process with the rest of the colors!

It’s that easy! Store your rice in a container or ziplock bag and you can reuse it. I have had mine for years! | Emily Yang | Usher · OMG Rainbow Rice, Rice Mix, Diy Rainbow, Ziplock Bag, Ziplock Bags, Toddler Learning Activities, Childrens Crafts, Toddler Learning, Easy Paper Crafts
