Plaster tree sculpture

I continued work on the Tree of Life commission this week by packing on plasticine clay over the wire armature. We use a water bed heater to soften the wax-based clay. I cut up an old sculpture into little pieces and sandwiched them between a plastic sheet, then covered that with a towel to hold in the heat. Other questions I received this week concerned the sculpting medium we use for our projects. There are many on the market. We use Abracadabra Sculpt. It is a two part epoxy putty (much the same consistency as plasticene I used as a kid). www.abracadabrasigns.com/smooth_and_sculpt/home It is mixed in equal quantities and then sculpted. Description So this is what I have so far for the tree sculpture... Like I said on the sketch submission...This is the maquette and the large version will be 5 feet tall. I'm still working on the leaves, but I mainly wanted to do the small one first so I could work out any design problems etc.... The big version will have cheese and crackers as it's fruit. I'm going to sculpt some wrappers as well, so that it will add to the effect that it's feeding on it's own wares.... Hope you like it....
