✅Why? Because “place” is something they can a see! 👀👀They can’t see a sit or a down, but you can teach them place then associate the place with the sit or down, now they understand it better!

✅Today all I want them to do is walk towards me and feel the “place” on their paws. I am looking for all four paws on the bed.

➡️Once I feel they are doing that consistently then I will add the cue “place” just prior to them placing their first paw on it.

🥰Now we will just continue to practice until it becomes automatic when I ask for them to go to their place!

Ideally not in a store when your dog is still having outbursts. Then continually place yourself directly behind your dog where they can’t see you. They will have to check in with you because they ALWAYS want to know where you are. You’ll notice your dog will likely move positions so that they can still see you and their trigger at the same time. If they do that, just move yourself directly behind them again. And keep repeating this over and over. This gives your dog a number of repetitions of CHOOSING you on their own will. This is the ultimate end goal. Sure we’re using a little trickery here but it’s giving the d Reactive Dog, Sit Back, Check In, Be Still, The Dog, See You, Meant To Be, The Next, Make Sure

Here are MY rules for “place”. ✅Place is NOT their bed or crate. It’s something that is put out when in use and taken away when not used. Their bed or crate is left out 24/7 and has no rules. It’s hard for a some dogs to remember when they got on the bed on their own or try to remember if you told them to get on and stay on it. By having a different “place” you eliminate this confusion. 👉🏼Having a dog do an auto place away from the door is also a lot less tempting for some dogs. ✅The pup can do anything she wants in place as long as she stays on it. There is not a certain position to maintain. This is why I love t Dog Areas In House, Dog Room Design, Dog Rooms, My Rules, No Rules, Try To Remember, Left Out, Puppy Training, I Choose

The Good Dog Yorktown on Instagram: "MORE INFO HERE The place command is truly one of the most useful things you can teach your dog. It’s a great way to teach your dog calmness, or an “off switch”. It’s also a great way to ask your pup to do something healthy when they may otherwise be picking up bad habits (ex. rushing people at the front door, begging at the dinner table, counter surfing while you cook, barking out the window, etc.). If your dog only relaxes when they want to, and not when you need them to, show them how to do so when you ask! This is a process, as the video shows, & will not happen overnight. Try implementing place time into your daily routine immediately following exercise. After a long walk or fetch, follow it up by heading inside & spending time teaching place. Give a treat every 5 seconds, 10 and so on. This is to build duration and keep them staying for longer Lastly, proof their settle. This means taking them to different places and building up an amazing settle. ✅️ Take your time ✅️ Use the same mat when out and about ✅️ Practice this inside and out. It can be used with visitors, outside settles and various other situations Follow for more tips ✨️ #dogtraining #dogtrainingtips #dogs" Place Training Dog, Poodle Training, Dog Essentials, Calm Dogs, Pit Bull Love, Dog Info, Crate Storage, Dog Training Obedience, September 21

For just 2 Minutes ⏳️ every day, practice this 1. Place food in your hand 2. Nearest your dog in it 3. Close your hand 4. Wait for eye contact from your dog 5. Reward Simple! Practice this every day so they learn they looming at you is the BEST thing. When they are doing it consistently, add the "focus" or "watch" command.
