Living sacrifice

Paul has spent 11 chapters telling us about the Gospel, the good news of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Now he gets practical in telling us that, in the light of God's mercy, we should be living sacrifices to Him and transform our minds to do His will.

What did Paul mean when he said to offer your body as a living sacrifice? We choose to lay down our own desires and live to honor and obey.

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

God does not require animal sacrifice from us anymore since Jesus Christ offered himself once and for all. We are encouraged by Paul in Romans 12:1-2 to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to God which is our reasonable service.
