Unpacked from the gas kiln this morning, an old bowl, but one that’s now been salvaged. It was thrown and fired more than a year ago and since then it has lived gathering dust on the shelves in the studio. It’s slightly oval, which I don’t mind, but it makes selling it in my online shop more difficult, so for this last firing I coated it in black iron oxide, inside and out, and almost to the foot. In my mind, for all this time, I thought it would simply do the exact same thing yellow ochre... Unpacked from the gas kiln this morning, an old bowl, but one that’s now been salvaged. It was thrown and fired more than a year ago and since then it has lived gathering dust on the shelves in the studio. It’s slightly oval, which I don’t mind, but it makes selling it in my online shop more difficult, so for this last firing I coated it in black iron oxide, inside and out, and almost to the foot.
