The 16th Arrondissement of Paris is home to many Art Nouveau buildings designed by Hector Guimard. Surely the pièce de résistance was the Castel Béranger (nicknamed Dérangé) which won him the coveted first prize in a design contest held in 1898 by the City of Paris and earned him the title of High Priest of Art Nouveau--at the age of 31.
